With the strumming of a few notes, you could have the base line to a song, the beginning to something great, but truly, their friendship is both like that song slowly being pieced together, note by note, and unlike that very song that could have made the whole thing possible.
Friendship is taking a chance, and so Adrien took a chance that he could be hurt, that they might not get along, when he offered his hand to be shaken, when he reached out and decided to let Luka in to become one of his friends, eventually a well cherished one.
They didn't always get along, because no friendship was without its faults or bumps, but at the very least, they did try with all of their will to get past those bumps and let friendship run its course. And run its course, it did, almost like a well oiled machine even through the stuttering of gears some days and the struggle of a bitter argument.
"So practice tonight?" Luka typed on his phone, and when Adrien got the message, a smile lit up his face as he quickly typed back to his friend, his bandmate.
"Of course." Adrien had planned to practice with Luka for months though the busyness of both of their lives especially Adrien's had made practice a distant but achievable future for the both of them. He wouldn't miss this for the world after months of planning, and while it would only be him and Luka today, there was a chance that they'd both learn to work even better with each other.
Adrien had asked his father a while ago if he could practice piano over at Luka's while the other played guitar, and his father, in a fairly good mood, agreed. He wasn't going to overguess it, wasn't going to push it, just head on over for a couple hours of playing and joking with one of his newest friends.
Hours had a funny way of passing when friendship was your distraction and even though, they should have probably been more focused on their instruments while playing them; they were mostly focused, but the hours had turned from serious playing into half joking as Adrien picked his brains for music puns, sometimes getting shoved lightly in playfulness as they shared a few laughs, not over how funny the puns were, but over the fact that they were spoken anyway.
There was something utterly relaxing about being like this with someone, laughing at even the poorest of jokes, sharing stories of moments passed between puns, and spending a while just, mostly goofing off with their instruments.
Adrien had never known anything like this before, and that's part of what made him want to stay far longer than he'd be able to. Just, talking and laughing like this, sharing the passion of musical instruments between the two of them; Adrien really did like piano, but it was much easier to skip if he ever felt like leaving the house. This kind of friendship only enhanced by the music that they created was like nothing else, and truthfully, Adrien loved the relaxed atmosphere, the creativity that buzzed between them. This was why he liked piano, for days when it wasn't super serious, memorized pieces. For the days, when he can explore new ideas, for the days when he could hang out with a dear friend and relax as creativity spun around them in spurts. Admittingly, these weren't masterpieces, and Adrien wasn't Beethoven or a flawless pro, his ideas had rarely ever gotten the chance to shine, so releasing them into the near quiet of a room on a boat felt perfectly freeing in its own way.
Honestly, there was something said about friendship that hinted at his freer sides of himself, friendship that blossomed so readily. Adrien was just so glad to have had a day to hang out with a new friend that could become one of his best friends, not that he'd ever renounce Nino from the throne of his very best friend, because he truly belonged there, but Luka could very easily come close one day.
