THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO:

AND THE STARS STOOD BACK AND WATCHED

WRITTEN BY ZARIUS

This is a little short based off the "Incoming Distress Call" video uploaded to Youtube

John Tracy could hear the question in his head become louder as he prepared to lie down.

It would not be silenced. It would be heard.

Should he do it?

He stared at the stars burning brightly outside in the wilderness of space, he wondered what would happen if they could speak.

And suddenly the question pounding away his head as loudly as it could muster was swiftly joined by a barrage of further questions.

Questions all about the stars.

What would they say?

That everything was alright?

That they would light the way for so many willing to pass?

How would they react to an emergency?

Would they sit back and watch?

Judge?

Or would they whisper to him that the time to act was now?

And then it became apparent that the questions would center all around his person once more.

Should he do it?

Should he stir?

Should he remain awake?

Should he bring the systems back online?

Should he risk Thunderbird 5 staying operational at a point where it desperately needed some time to conserve it's energies and undergo inevitable maintenance?

When it came to advancing towards tomorrow, John feared the prospects of the present, he was fearful they would become the mistakes of the past.

It was these thoughts that conspired to confound him well into the hours that permitted slumber, and well into the hours that would compel him to stir, making him feel as though he'd been late for an appointment.

John put the questions to one side, and rested comfortably on the bed.

The lights dimmed, the computers and sensors fell silent.

"Mayday, mayday, international rescue...mayday, mayday" uttered a desperate voice, trying to have it's voice heard also, transmitting across International Rescue's frequencies, but unable to receive a response.

Thunderbird 5, for the next few hours, was dead.

And its' very human occupant had given in to sleep.

And as slumber and reality blurred together, one constant in the present tense of the universe remained.

The questions.

"...is there anyone there?"

And the stars?

Silent to the end, the stars stood back and watched

Who they judged remains to be seen.
