A/N: Hello! This our first story on here! Wallison came up with the idea at the local Comfest, where firedancing was happening. Merr said, 'OMG what if Zuko did that?!' Wallison was all like, 'Yeah!' Then Merr was like, 'I'd hit that.' Okay, not really. But anyway...A disclaimer!
DISCLAIMER! We do not own Avatar: The Last Airbender, Zuko, or Iroh. (aww man) If we did, Wallison would drink tea with Iroh, and Merr would be all up in Zuko.
Zuko slowly sneaked out of the small tent. He snapped his fingers, and
a small flame appeared in his hand. He grabbed two ropes and ran out of
the camp him and Iroh were staying at for the night. He walked all the
way to a clearing in the forest. When he got there, he took off his
shirt and brushed his shaggy hair from his face. He then set the tips of
the ropes on fire, and started twirling them around. As he did, he felt
at peace, a peace stronger than when he meditated. He smiled.
Meanwhile, in the tent, Iroh opened his eyes, breathing heavily. He
felt like there was something wrong. He looked over at Zuko's bed and
saw sloppy blankets in a lump instead of Zuko sleeping.
"Prince Zuko?" he whispered. He instantly sat up straight. Looking
around, he saw no Zuko. He walked outside to search for his nephew, and
saw twirling lights far in the distance. He decided to investigate.
Zuko didn't hear the intruder walking into his space
until he spoke.
"Prince Zuko, there you are!" Iroh's voice called to him. Zuko
jumped, dropping the ropes onto the ground, therefore putting them out.
"Uncle!" he yelled. "What are you doing up? You should be at the
camp."
"So should you." Iroh walked over to him, and picked up the ropes.
"What are you doing?"
"I was fire dancing," Zuko said, slightly embarrassed. Iroh chuckled.
"You know, Prince Zuko, only women do that in our part of the Fire
Nation."
Zuko shot him a hateful look. "I know!" Iroh sighed and put a hand on
Zuko's back, but quickly removed it.
"Your back is all sticky and sweaty."
"I know." Iroh slipped his hands in his pockets. "You know, Uncle,
some men do fire dancing in the Fire Nation, just not in our region."
"Yes, I know this." Iroh smiled. "Only the highly skilled fire
benders can twirl fire around; it's not easy. You could burn yourself. How
long have you been doing this?"
"For a few weeks maybe."
"Ah." Iroh thought. "Have you ever hit yourself with the fire?"
"No."
"Well then. You are a very magnificent fire bender then." Zuko just
started to walk back to camp.
"I like fire dancing," he stated, not looking at Iroh. "It makes me
feel..."
"Feel like what?" Iroh questioned. Zuko looked at him and smiled.
"Peaceful. Wonderfully peaceful."
