Imagine, the world of Overwatch, different. With the choices the heroes made changded bit or entirely their lives. Well, imagine this with a certain cyborg ninja and a infamous doctor...
Genji was born seven years after his brother, Hanzo. In the Asian country, Japan. Born into the powerful orrganisation, the Shimada Clan. His mother died at child birth, a few days after he was born. His father though, had two very different about his sons.
Hanzo, was suppose to be the leader of the Shimada Clan after his father's retirement or death. He had to be prepared, rule as an example and try to lead the clan to more success and glory. Whilst Genji, can live a free, luxury life.
Genji did so. Even though he had classes of training of being a ninja, he would usually skip them go to the arcade or hang around a group of boys. Even though Genji didn't really thought of friends. The Elders would complain about this to Sojiro, but with Genji getting full grades with his techniques and skills of becoming a successful, samurai, ninja and assassin, there was no point in stopping him. Genji even would get top grades in school too and would then become into a teenager.
When he was around fourteen years old he began to be unsure of the clan and began to slowly try to get away from it. He went to college to finish his degrees when he became the right age. But he had soon realised then, that the clan was illegal. When twenty-one he had a life of a playboy. Often spending the night at bars, and the next morning in a hotel or stranger's house. He enjoys it, having all the girls go all over him. He expected it to last forever.
But that was not to be true...
His father died when he was only twenty-three. A usual morning of waking up in a hotel, getting his clothes back on and sneaking out of the building and coming back to see his brother at the entrance of the main building with a sorrow face painted on him.
At that moment, Genji knew what it meant.
There was no reason to why he died, it was "unknown reasons" from the elders. Hanzo had now become the Leader of the Shimada Clan and Genji knew for some odd reason. He wouldn't be safe. He knew the elders disliked him for his lively behaviour and how he treated the clan. He knew they would trick Hanzo and he knew that they would kill him.
He had to escape. He had to escape Japan. He wasn't safe anymore, But what about Hanzo? He wouldn't be safe either. He could be executed by the elders by what he is doing. But Genji knew it was too late to make Hanzo come back, he had changed ever since his father died. He had become more stern and less supportive to his brother and wasn't protecting him either. Genji's best option to protecting him was to leave and disappear without a trace. Hanzo couldn't get blamed if there was no evidence of him helping his own brother escape, so why would the elders kill him?
Genji began to put his valuables into a bag to get ready for his plan.
It was night when Genji left his room quietly. He sneaked around the buildings. The guards couldn't here him. Not even his sprinting. Genji manage to climb the gates without trouble and began to run.
He soon reached the countryside outside of Hanamura. He then went onto his knees next to a tree, trying to catch up to his breath. He did eventually a few minutes later. But he hadn't notice the orca that landed at the next field until it was too late. Black figures appear around, rifles at the ready.
Genji pulled out his wakizashi, ready to make a move, examining the soldiers on how they stood up and how they were holding were the rifles.
"Hey, there's no need for violence," said a voice behind the ninja.
Genji turned to see a fist come to his face, and everything went black.
Genji looked around him, he was in complete darknest. No where he could run, hide or even walk. All he could do was stand.
"Hello," he yelled, only his echo responded to him.
He breathed heavily, trying to understand what was going on. Until a yellow and green light appeared. Genji winced at the light, his arms covering his eyes for protecting. He soon removed them when he was comfortable with what he was looking at and gasped. Two dragons were swirling around each other. Genji's green dragon, Soba and a yellow one nuzzling each other's head.
Genji didn't say anything and just watched with shock.
His eyes snapped wide open. Breathing heavily, trying to remember what he saw in his fading dream. But stopped, and realised he wasn't outside anymore. But in a room, tied up to chair strongly. His weapons gone too.
"Kuso," he whispered. He then heard voices and footsteps outside the room, a door right in front of him opened, and a man in a black uniform came in with a beanie on his head and another man in a blue uniform came in, his blonde hair very noticeable.
They both stared at the young Shimada. Genji only glared.
"Speak English?" asked the man in black.
"The British version," replied Genji, "apparently you cannot understand the Australian accent so we went for United Kingdom."
The man in black growled. But the other man dressed in blue expressed nothing.
"You are Genji Shimada," he said, "is that correct?"
Genji looked up at the man in blue.
"Yes," he replied.
Both men looked at each other and the man in black nodded. The man in blue then turned back to Genji.
"I am Jack Morrison," started the man in blue, "and this is Gabriel Reyes. I am the Strike Commander of Overwatch, A.K.A, leader."
Genji looked up stunned. "And I thought you would take a peaceful movement to me instead," he murmured.
"Sorry about that," said Commander Morrison, "but I him Reyes do the task of capturing you."
Reyes just rolled his eyes and began to speak. "To be honest, we were going to raid your headquarters, but we found you outside instead."
Genji nodded.
"For your crimes, you can be sent to prison for life with such a high profile," continued Reyes.
Genji sighed and closed his eyes.
"But we can make a deal," said Morrison.
Genji opened his eyes and looked up, brow furrowed.
"We can keep you out of prison," said Morrison, "if you help us take down the Shimada Clan."
Genji looked stunned. He had seen posters of Overwatch when a child, and always wanted to be a hero like them. But knowing something wrong in the clan, he kept it a secret. Genji then focused on a question that flung into his mind.
"And what happens when I finish the Clan?" he asked.
"You can chose to stay in Overwatch, or leave with your name cleared," replied Reyes. Morrison stared at the man in black. But Genji was deep in thought. He knew that it was the only way to stay away from prison now, and besides, he could be able to save his brother with the aid of Overwatch.
"I accept," he said. Morrison turned to look at Genji.
"But only on one condition," continued Genji, "my brother Hanzo will stay alive. He his been tricked by the elders and they are controlling him. Leave Hanzo to me, and only me."
"Sorr-"
"I'm sure I can put him in Blackwatch," agreed Reyes.
Genji perked up. "What is Blackwatch?"
"A secret part of Overwatch where we do the dirty work and give criminals a chance." replied Reyes.
Genji gulped. "Please don't let me go in there please," he begged.
"Wasn't planning to," said Morrison finally, "we'll give the contracts and you'll be put into my strike force with Torbjörn Lindholm and Reinhardt Wilhelm.
'You mean that famous dwath and the hero of Eichenwalde? That won't be bad at all.'
"Thank you Commander," replied Genji and bowed his head in respect.
Commander Morrison nodded as Commander Reyes smiled.
"Get Genji Shimada our of those handcuffs and escort him to my office," ordered Morrison to the guards. They as they were told and left Morrison and Reyes alone.
"Have Hanzo Shimada, the current leader of the Shimada Clan going into Blackwatch?!" exclaimed Morrison angrily.
"Relax Jack," said Reyes, "we did it to lots of criminals and it worked well, remember Jesse Mccree? He was top ranked in the Deadlock gang and now, he's succeeding in every mission with no problems out all, except for a few."
"But this is Hanzo Shimada we're talking about," said Morrison.
"But what if Genji is right?" asked Gabriel, "listen when we capture him, we will keep him hidden in Blackwatch and me and Mccree will look out for him until we can trust him on his own."
Morrison sighed heavily. "Fine," he said, "but if he tries to brake any rules. I'm killing him."
Reyes looked at Morrison. "Now hold your horses, how will the public and UN react if they found out the hero of Overwatch killing a man trying to clear his name shooting someone."
"You know what I mean," growled Morrison.
"But they won't," said Reyes.
Morrison stared at Reyes and sighed. He knew Reyes had a point. No matter how he would try, if he killed Hanzo the media would make seem like he was the villain instead. That's how it is.
Reyes raised a brow when Morrison just walked away. He didn't bother on making more points. Since he had already won. And when he was walking back to his Orca to head to the Overwatch Norway Headquaters, he couldn't help but be a tiny bit excited and pleased on how they were getting Shimadas to join the organisation.
