When Light finally opened his eyes, there was nothing but black.
That wasn't to say that it was as quiet as it was black. There voices chattering here and there, but as Light tried to speak, nothing would come out. The suddenly, he realized: he knew these voices! He focused on one of them. Light recognized it as Sayu's voice.
"Onii-chan, why did you kill so many people?!" he could hear her pleading desperately. It ripped his heart out to know that his own sister didn't realize why he had done so. Light decided to focus on another voice.
"Light, we're very disappointed in you," his parents said. That startled him. His parents had never been disappointed in him: Light had always been the perfect child, with perfect grades and never asking for too much. He dismissed this voice.
"I knew you were Kira," L's voice spoke. L's voice was the clearest, as if he was standing next to Light. He looked to his right and he swore he saw the hunched detective, wearing a smug smirk. "Now instead of suspecting you as Kira, I can truly call you that."
Light scowled. Dismissing that voice as well, he broke into a run. The voices followed, all putting down Kira, putting down his actions!! Light knew what he had done could be considered a crime, yet it was justice!!! Justice to make up for the lack of it in the present day!
How long he ran, Light knew not, but he didn't feel tired, nor hungry or thirsty. But no matter how fast he ran or how long made no difference: the voices still came to haunt him: why did he have to kill? Why did he become Kira? The voices wouldn't stop. They never ceased to discriminate his actions.
Finally, Light gave up. He sank to his knees, feeling as exhausted as he had while being locked up for so long under surveillance by L.
…Damn.
Now that he was dead, everything had gone to waste. His father's death, Watari's, and most importantly…. L's.
L was the only person who gave Light an even challenge, one that he was unsure of whether he would win or not. Light felt a bit guilty about killing him; he was the closest thing L had ever had to a friend. Mentally he beat himself up for it, since he lacked feeling in Mu.
He began to question his own actions, after hearing all the lectures by his friends and family. Was this really right? Had Light been alive, he would have answered, "yes, it's justice," without thinking. But now… it might just be time for the mighty Kira, and his beliefs, to truly die.
All righty. This was my first fanfic evah for Death Note, and so this kinda came out while I was watching the second movie on Youtube. (the stupid video wouldn't load, so...) Any comments and junk would be much appreciated :D (and sorry if it kinda sucked, I'm not good at doing gloomy stuff and it tends to go OOC )
