Don't leave.
Chapter 1
*This Fic is kind of an alternate of Jac going stateside to do the hertzig project.
With Jac in the final stages of her transfer stateside, leaving her daughter and her Ex behind, Jonny has no choice but to fight for what he wants, Jac. But with a few home truths and emotional encounters along the way, will they both get what they want in the end?...*
April 14th 2015, 1.30pm
After spending the whole morning in theatre, doing back to back minor surgeries, Jac came strolling onto the ward, her mind clearly elsewhere as she walked into her office, where Mo and Elliot where sat discussing a patient.
"Ah Jac, how did Mr Peters procedure go?" Elliot asked, quickly stopping their conversation as both him and Mo turned to face the blank faced consultant.
"Oh, it went well thanks, a few minor hitches but nothing I've seen before" Jac replied, sitting herself down on her chair and logging into her computer.
"I'm rather surprised that you only had a few hitches, concidering how compromised his left lung was" Mo added, letting out a small smirk as she looked over to Jac.
"As I said, I've seen much worse..." Jac replied bluntly, concentrating on what she was doing, before her phone buzzed against the glass top of her desk.
"O-k..." Mo started as she turned round to Elliot for some inspiration on what to say next, just as a knock came to the office door.
"...So I heard about your transfer stateside! Finally had enough of Holby?" Mo said, before they all turned to face a shocked looking Jonny.
"Your moving? To America?" Jonny asked, his voice shaky as he learnt of his Ex's plans.
"California to be exact and yes, you can say so" Jac replied, as she got up from her desk and made her way out of the room.
"I think I may have just put my foot in it with the ginger ninja and Prince Charming over there!" Mo whispered to Elliot, turning herself around and hiding her face slightly.
"Don't panic, I'm sure whatever it is they will both sort it out between them, anyway she's got a few more weeks before she plans on departing" Elliot replied, trying to be optimistic.
Just as Jac squeezed her small frame through the gap between Jonny and the door, Jonny took grip of her arm gently and pulled her to a stop, causing them both to gaze into each other's eyes.
"Do you mind? I have places to be." Jac snapped, releasing herself from Jonny's grip and walking away.
"Jac! Wait.." Jonny bellowed across the corridor full of busy staff, Jac stopped in her tracks before reluctantly turning around to hear him out.
"I know what your going to say Jonny and you can't change my mind... It's better this way" Jac answered, knowing full well that he was going to try and persuade her to stay for Emma's sake.
"Jac your making a huge mistake, Emma, our Daughter, needs you. I don't want her to grow up without her mum in her life, surely you should know how that feels Jac?" Jonny replied, hoping his words could change her mind.
"Jonny, I'm doing it because of her, if I stay and be part of her life I will always find some way of screwing it up, and if I go she will grow up in a happy and loving environment with her dad. It's better this way" Jac said quietly before walking away down the corridor, trying to hide the tears that were forming in her eyes.
"Jac... Jac, we need to talk about this" Jonny said, his emotions getting the best of him. Just then Mo and Elliot walked out of the office, Mo placed a loving hand on Jonny's shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze.
"I'm sorry you had to find out that way Pal, I assumed you knew about her going stateside. But, everything will be ok Jonny, she'll soon come to her senses, you know what Jac Naylor is like!" Mo said softly to her upset friend.
"She never told me she was moving there for good, I knew she was going to head up the hertzig, but why would she tell me? I'm only the father of her daughter, the one she couldn't give two hoots about, she dosent know or understand what she means to me Mo" Jonny replied, wiping the stray tears from his eyes before he walked off to carry on with his shift.
Mo and Elliot watched on as the upset nurse trotted down the corridor, both unsure on how both Jac and Jonny we're going to resolve this, not just for their sales, but for the sake of their daughter Emma.
"What are we going to do Prof?" Mo asked, her sight still infixed on Jonny's figure as he finally walked out of sight.
"I'm not sure there is anything we can do Mo, the best we can do is to encourage them to speak to each other, with a gentle nudge" Elliot says, before they both walked in direction of the ward to see to their patients.
Back on the ward, Jac and jonny were standing on seperate sides of the bay, both occasionally glancing over to eachother trying not to make eye contact in the process.
"Right Ms Hargreaves, I'll get a nurse to come and prep you for theatre and I'll see you down there, thank you" Jac said, rubbing some alcohol gel into her hands, before picking up the patient files, just as jonny walked over on direction of the nurses station.
"Nurse Maconie, could you prep bed 7 for theatre please?.." Jac asked, gently putting down the files in front of him.
"Sure" he simply replied, finishing what he was doing before scooting off to prep the patient as Jac Requested.
"Jonny..." Jac said, unsure why he was being so short with her, Jonny didn't respond and carried on with his jobs.
As Jac stood there, closely watching Jonny's every move, Mo, who had not long day herself down in front of a computer to check on some x Rays she ordered for a patient, quickly glanced up, noticing the fiery red headed consultants gaze infixed on the scottish nurse as he prepped Jac patient.
"You know he still has feelings for you? He's not gonna let you go without a fight Jac" Mo said, loud enough for the surgeon to hear her.
"I gathered that Ms Effanga, and it's none of your's or Jonny's business whether I move to California or not" Jac replied bluntly, still watching Jonny.
"It may not be my business but it is Jonny's, especially when he's got Emma, your daughter to think about. I think he's not the only one who needs to show his true feelings" Mo said, looking upto Jac, who instantly turned around with a startled look upon her face.
"I beg your pardon Mo? It's better this way, this way nobody gets hurt" Jac snapped, with a screech in her voice.
"Come on Jac! It's clear that you still have feelings for him, I know you by now and if you didn't have feelings for him, this conversation that he tried to have with you earlier would have been over and done with by now. There's no point in hiding the truth so go and sort it out yeah?" Mo finished, standing up with her patients results in her hands, as she whispered it towards Jac so nobody else heard.
Jac stood there, lost for words as she digested what Mo had just said to her. Was it all true? Is Jac denying her true feelings in fear of everybody else deeming her weak? Or had her past feelings for Jonny, the father of her little girl, finally passed?. Mo then walked away from the flabbergasted consultant, leaving her to think about her actions.
Moments later, Jonny came walking over, carrying the patients files under his arm pit as he rubbed his hands with the alcohol gel.
"Bed 7 is prepped and ready for theatre Ms Naylor, here you go." Jonny said blankly, passing the file to Jac before walking away from her with a sad look on his face.
"Jonny, where are you going?" She asked, crossing her arms and looking over to him as he carried on walking further away.
"On my break, to make sure my daughter is ok" Jonny replied, shouting across the ward as he approached the stairwell.
"Don't forget we are due in theatre in half an hour!" Jac shouted back, as she heard the loud thud as the doors hit against the frame. Jac took in a deep breath and exhaled loudly before carrying on with her tasks.
