Red, Brown and Blue. - Chapter 1
Tom looked across at Dan in maths, something wasn't right. It took Tom a while to realise, but Dan was paying far to much attention to Mrs King for Dan. He had even answered a couple of questions and as a general rule that was something that Dan never, ever did in maths, it was weird.
The door suddenly opened and Mr Flatly skipped in a ecstatic look on his face interrupting Tom's train of thought.
"Mr Flatly, what a nice surprise. What are you doing here." Mrs King asked through clenched teeth.
"Well you see I just couldn't wait to tell the children about the Ball we will be having here at St Hearts this Friday." Mr Flalty beamed, all around the room squeals came from girls and they instantly started talking about clothes and outfits for the night.
"This isn't just any Ball though, it's come as your favourite movie or TV star!" Mr Flatly grinned goofily as Mrs King rolled her eyes behind him and pulled a distaste face. More squeals erupted around the class room, but then thank fully for the rest of the unexcited class the bell sounded. There was a rush of chairs scraping across the floor and a stampede of people all heading for the door. It was break.
Keri, Tom, Aniesha and Dan were sat on the edge of the garden talking. Aniesha and Keri were talking about the dance while Tom and Dan half heartily listened.
"I mean Friday that is three days away how on earth am I meant to get a dress by then." Keri complained.
"Keri I have seen your wardrobes I swear you can find something in one of the three of them." Tom exclaimed, the girl seemed to be wearing something new every time he saw her. Keri gasped.
"No, no, no! Thomas you do not understand!" Keri shrieked. "This is a dance were you have to go in couples and I certainly can't have a boy take me to that dance in something old." Keri gasped at the thought and started to hyperventilate.
"Alright Keri breathe. Tom doesn't know anything about this kinda thing, remember. It's alien to the boy species." Aniesha said glancing at Tom and Dan.
"Yeah I suppose they are idiots." Keri grumbled.
"Heard that!" Dan called looking up from his phone which he was texting someone on and through his fringe. It had really grown, his mum had been nagging at him to get it cut for a while, but he liked it very much like that.
"Dan are your eyes red!" Aniesha said panic in her voice.
"Erm I don't think so, probably the light on them." Dan said quickly giving her a weird look then went back to texting on his phone, but when no one was watching he gave her worried glance in her direction.
"Who you texting?" Tom asked trying to look at Dan's phone, but he twisted the screen so it blocked his view.
"None of your business Tupper." Dan said pushing Tom away, but not before he saw who he was texting.
"Why ya texting Sky?" Tom asked catching the two girls attention.
"Cause she is my friend, is that a problem..." Dan trailed off as the three looked at him. Aneisha held her palm out and cocked her eyebrow. Grudgingly, Dan placed the phone in her hand.
"So what's 'what we doing tonight?' supposed to mean?" Keri asked glaring at Dan. Before Dan could answer his phone started ringing in Aniesha's hand, the caller ID said Mum on it. Aniesha quickly handed the phone back to Dan who answered it. Dan winced as he put it to his ear and his mother started shouting down the phone so loud that the other three could hear her, but not decipher what she was saying.
A blue discovery pulled up outside the school gates then Dan hung up.
"I am so dead." Dan whispered under his breath "My mum is here and is very angry, I gotta go home can someone tell the office that I've gone home sick please. I am in the doghouse." Dan explained before grabbing his school bag and running over to the car.
"Well that was weird." Tom stated. "What do you think he is in trouble for?" Tom asked, the other two shrugged.
"Why do you think he was texting Sky?" Keri asked a hint of jealousy in her voice, Aniesha felt a pang of guilt in her chest. She knew Keri liked like Dan, but Dan still loved Zoe. Aniesha felt that if she helped Keri and Dan to get together then she'd be betraying Zoe, but if she didn't she'd be failing her job as a BFF. Why was peoples love life so complicated, Aniesha thought.
Dan jumped into the front seat of the car.
"Benjamin Storm, how many times have I told you not to go around playing Daniel unless it's important, and don't you dare say that double maths is important." Amanda Storm threatened her second eldest child.
"Sorry mum, but Dan was really ill this morning." Ben sighed.
"Huh, he was probably faking it, you know better than to fall for his clever tricks." Amanda huffed starting the car and driving out of the school yard.
