There's so many buttons, Finn thought while glancing at the controls of the X-Wing. He was entranced by large, muscular hands working their magic; pointing and prodding at the controls. These hands belong to the greatest pilot in the Resistance and most likely the whole galaxy, Poe Dameron.
"…Did you get any of that?" Poe questioned, raising an eyebrow at Finn.
"Uh, yes? Yes, yes I did."
"Okay, so how do you turn it on?" Poe smirked.
"Well… you… uh, you pres-"
Poe's eyebrow arched slightly higher.
"- you pull the lever and uh, you flip the… you flip the switch?" Finn replied slowly, unsure of his answer.
"Well… you're not wrong, but I'm going to need you to pay more attention to me and less towards whatever's bothering you." Poe lowered his eyebrow and smiled at Finn
It's kind of hard when the "thing" that's bothering me is you, Finn thought carelessly. How is he supposed to concentrate when his flight instructor is the big, hotshot pilot himself? This… this… this man; this man that he'd betrayed friends and comrades for; this man that he cherishes; this man that he may love.
"Finn, are you okay?" Poe asked with worry at the tip of his tongue.
"Yeah, I think so?"
"Well… let's hope so because I'll be quite upset if you hurt that pretty, little head of yours. Hmm?"
"Wait, wait, wait…" Finn looked around; there wasn't a single person in sight. "Ar- are you flirting with me?" he asked.
"The buckethead finally figures it out!" Poe exclaimed.
"Wait, what? Buckethead?" Finn was terribly confused and… kind of offended?
"I've been flirting with you since I found out that you were still alive. ." Poe sighed. "When you risked yourself on the Star Destroyer to save my ass, I couldn't get you out of my head. I was worried when I couldn't see you or the crashed tie when I woke up. I thought you were dead… and I was scared."
Finn was shocked with Poe's reveal. Well I guess I don't have to bother with hiding it from him anymore, he thought.
"I was scared that I lost you.." Finn replied, "I was scared that I wouldn't be able to see you again; to be able to thank you."
Finn and Poe both looked up, staring at nothing but the stars dusting the night sky.
"Am I ever going to get it?" Poe asked.
"Get what?"
"This 'thank you' of yours."
"You might." Finn replied, smirking.
"Good. I'm looking forward to it."
Finn laughed, he was happy to be here with Poe. Would he mind if I thanked him with a kiss? Would that be too weird? I've never kissed anyone before. Ah, hell with it…
Finn looked over to his right, looking straight at Poe who was admiring the the stars.
"Poe, look at me." Finn demanded.
As Poe looked at him, Finn leaned forward, his eyes flickered downwards towards Poe's lips. He watched as those lips allowed a sinful tongue dart through to wet them. I can do this, he thought.
"You're taking your time and I'm not really a big fan of it." Poe remarked.
Finn's right eye twitched in annoyance.
"I'm trying to make it romantic."
"We can make it romantic when you allow me to take you out to the bar, without the rest of my squadron; it'll just be you and me. It'll be a date."
Finn froze. A date? What's a d- before he could finish his thoughts, he felt two strong hands grip his jacket.
"I thought I told you that I wasn't a big fan of you taking your time" Poe remarked yet again, smirking.
Before he could answer Poe pulled him forward, smashing his lips with his own. Finn started to wrap his arms around Poe's neck; I don't think I mind kissing.
"That's not going be my thank you, by the way." Poe stated.
"It's not?"
"No. If you want to thank me, you can wash my X-Wing." Poe said, looking down at Finn sheepishly.
"I'll think about it."
