Harry's trunk was kicking up clumps of dirt as he dragged it along the path toward town in the distance. The sun was high in the sky and his stomach was grumbling. Knowing that he could get food back at the burrow was no enticement to turn around to him. It had been a horrible morning and it felt like no one would listen to him.
He was very grateful that the twins had saved him from his prison earlier but to them it had only been an adventure. Ron was just talking about the things they could do for fun. To top it all off, once they had gotten to the burrow Mrs. Weasley yelled at him calling him a bad influence. After yelling at the four of them, she sent Ron and the twins to degnome the garden.
"Stay put there Harry, I am going to call my husband to see what we should do with you"
So not liking the thought of having to go back to his relatives he walked away as she had her head in the fire. It was a spur of the moment thing but to his mind nowhere to stay was better then what he just got out of. Coming back to his present situation he couldn't help but feel depressed, 'I thought Mrs. Weasley would help me out. I should have known better.'
Harry had been walking for close to thirty minutes and was starting to tire. While his trunk has a charm to lighten it his arms still felt like lead from having to drag it in the dirt. Pulling the trunk to the side of the dirt road he decided to take a rest on it. He had not thought that the town would be so far away, and was starting to regret leaving the burrow. Maybe if he had stayed he could have convinced Mrs. Weasley to let him stay? Hungry, tired, and not sure what to do Harry felt close to tears.
Taking off his glasses he started to rub his eyes to reduce the sting. So caught up in his misery he did not notice person behind him until they put their hand on his shoulder. "AHHHHHH!" Yelling in fright Harry fell off of his trunk and dropped his glasses.
"Oh dear, are you ok?" the person who scared him asked. Harry looked up from where he was on the ground and squinted to try and make sense of the blurry person. He could make out that it was an adult woman with blond hair. "It seems you have dropped your glasses do you need some help?"
Realizing she was right he started to look around on the ground for the missing glasses. "No that is ok I will find them." He turn from her and started to look where he thought they landed.
Squatting down and picking up the glasses from where they landed at her feet she called to Harry. "Here are your glasses. Can I ask what your name is?"
"Thank you miss, my name is Harry." He stood up and took the glasses from woman. Putting them on, he could now see the blond in front of him clearly and was now a bit unsure. He could now see she is wearing a robe and had a wand tucked behind her ear and knew she was a witch.
"Harry what are you doing out here alone on the road, where are your parents?" the blond woman asked.
"Um, who are you?" Harry blurted out before he could stop himself. He blushed as he felt he was being rude.
"Oh I guess I haven't introduced myself. I am Mrs. Lovegood. I live in the house right over there."
