Why Him? A Flippy and Flaky Love Story

FLAKY'S P.O.V

It was him… those green eyes, that croppy green hair, that smile… oh that smile. Everything about him made me tingle with joy. I sat on my bed waiting for him to come and pick me up for our first date, I remember how he asked me word, for word.

"So Flaky…. Uhmm…"

"Yes, what's up?"

"Uhm.. You know if you aren't busy on Friday night… um... Would you like to… * sigh* to… go out with me to dinner or a movie or something?"

My tiny feet dangled right above the floor, swinging back and forth. I looked to the clock. 7:45. I have while till he picks me up at eight o'clock. When I first met him I didn't even want to be within a five foot distance from him. After what he did when we were playing that innocent game of hide and seek… I never thought I could make eye contact with him. But out of everybody in Happy Tree Town, it seemed as though I was the only one who understood him. The pain and suffering he would go through when he would "Flip Out". I could relate because of the so many fears I have, Hell I even feared him for a long while. But after two long years of knowing him, I finally saw that he was just a misunderstood, lonely, being, I was also lonely before he arrived. No one would want me to go to anything because they thought I would be scared and chicken out. No one understood me either.

I heard a knock at my door. That must be him! I slipped on my shoes grab my coat and headed towards the door, I opened it to see that dashing smile of his.

"Hey there, you already to head out?" He looked me over, and nodded in approval.

"Yep." I closed and locked the door behind me. "Ready as I'll ever be."

As we walked down my drive to his truck, he placed his arm around me and smelt my hair.

"You smell like flowers, you know."

My cheeks filled with a bright shade of pink that I never thought would wear off. I gulped.

"Um… thank you."

He smiled that smile at me and open my side of the car for me.

"After you my lady" He chuckled

"Why, thank you." I giggled back. I strapped myself in the seat.

A few seconds later he climbed in and strapped himself in.

"So what would you like to do tonight Flakes?" he asked me, calling me by his pet name he gave me.

"He hadn't thought about this until now. I thought he always had a plan." I thought to myself.

"Well, whatever you're up to do tonight." I looked into those beautiful green eyes.

"Why don't we go to Giggles and Petunia's new restaurant down in town? How does that sound?"

"Sure, I don't mind." The restaurant was called Ice Baby. I know how long it took them to plan, buy, and open their restaurant. They only opened last weekend and already have the town was talking about how good it was. Even Sniffles got out from that mega house of his to go and try it, this is probably since he always had a little tiny crush on Petunia. Maybe I'll see a few friends their… but when they see me with Flippy… They all treat him like a freak and then maybe they'll start to shun me and…No… Flippy's my friend and I don't care what anybody thinks about him or me or us together. And…

"Flakes, Flakes…" Flippy called my name at least five times and I didn't even notice.

"Were here, Flakes come on."

With that I stepped out of the truck and walked with him into the restaurant.
