She sits in the darkness, her wrists in chains. But they aren't just any chains -- they are more along the lines of a high-tech weapon, designed to give her an electric shock if she moves, as she found out nearly an hour ago. So, there she sits, waiting for him to come save her. Waiting is one thing she hates more than anything. She isn't a patient person and she hates playing the role of the stereotypical damsel in distress. So why is she counting on him of all people to save her?

'You know good and well why you're depending on him,' a small voice in her head rings out.

"Shut up..." she says almost inaudibly. She wills it to be quiet and leave her in silence. She wants to be left alone and not have to hear what it has to say.

'Whatever...you know exactly what I mean,' the voice continues.

She wants to press her hands to her ears, but she doesn't dare move. Instead, she shuts her green eyes and ignores the tears that began to form. Shivers run up her spine as she tries to speak. "Leave me alone," she commands in a whisper. "I know what you're going to say, and it isn't true."

'Oh, you do?' the voice taunts her. 'Then what am I going to say?'

She takes a breath. "You're going to say that I'm depending on him because I like him," she states quietly. "But you're wrong, I don't like him. I don't," she whispers in the darkness.

'Sure you don't,' the voice says sarcastically. 'Remember that the next time you risk your neck to save him.'

"I don't! I honestly don't," she pleads as squeezes her eyes tight to keep the tears from spilling.

'If you didn't like him,' the voice goes on, 'then why are you in this situation?'

She keeps her eyes closed as she tries to think of a reason. "This would've happened regardless of how I feel," she explains. "It's really not his fault this happened."

'So you're standing up for him,' she can almost hear the smirk the voice's now-arrogant tone.

"I'm not!" she says in the loudest whisper she can manage.

'Fine. Whatever you say,' the voice says, finally waving the proverbial white flag. 'Have fun waiting.'

She gives a small sigh and opens her eyes and a few tears slip out. Somewhere inside her, she knows the voice is right. She doesn't want to admit it, but it is. "Ugh, he better get here soon," she says quietly, hoping her captors can't hear her.

"Who better get here soon?" whispers a male voice.

She looks over to the small window and her face lights up in spite of her situation. "You," she answers.

A twinkle comes to his sapphire eyes as he carefully undoes the chains. He gently takes her hand and helps her stand for the first time in hours. She leans over and kisses his cheek.

"C'mon, let's go," he says as he blushes slightly. She grins as she leaves with his hand in hers.

Author's note: OK, so the back story is that Cindy's been captured by someone (use your imagination) and she's waiting on Jimmy to come and save her, which she isn't too pleased about. Reviews would be mucho appreciated.
