Conch
Conch grabbed the branch on the tree and tried to pull himself up, but slipped. He panicked. He then ran deeper into the forest. He found a tree with sturdier branches. He was breathing harder and harder. Conch had earlier stuck leaves onto himself so it could help him camouflage into the forest. So he could hide, hide from the boys. Sam and Eric were fighting with each other; they grabbed each other's hair and pulled. They used to be inseparable. Ralph came running through the forest trying to look for Conch; Ralph didn't know much about hunting. Jack came storming into the forest. They were at least 10 feet away from Conch. Conch's hands were sweaty and blistered. Conch was hiding in the forest glade; the only other person who knew about the forest glade was Simon. Once Conch realized that he began to panic. You could see by his face expression, he really wanted off the island.
The sun no longer shined. The air was foggy. The boys had given up today and went back to their own part of their island. Just a couple of weeks ago, the boys started fighting. They all turned to Conch because he had the power of speech on the island, the power of all the boys. They didn't want to be controlled by Ralph, so everyone split up. If they find Conch, they get to rule over all the boys.
Conch crawled down from the tree. He walked toward the forest glade. Crack. He stopped. Crack. Simon revealed himself, "It's alright. I won't hurt you. I don't care about your stupid power."
"How would I know you won't do anything to me?"
"I don't know. You'll just have to trust me," Simon said with a straight face.
Conch was breathing really hard now. He coughed a bit. Simon was holding a bag made out of Pig stomach. He handed the bag to Conch.
"Here" Simon said.
"What's inside?"
"Are you thirsty? I made it. Drink it." Simon said with a forceful tone. Conch tugged on the bag to open it. They both sat down next to the log. They talked and talked. Conch drifted off to sleep.
Conch woke up. He blinked a few. All the boys were staring down at him. "Look he's awake." Simon said.
"Wait… Wha .. What's happening?" Conch said. All the boys got up. Ralph grabbed Conch by the hand. "He's mine!" Ralph yelled. Jack grabbed Conch's other hand and pulled. Simon grabbed Conch's body and pulled him towards him. "He's mine! I caught him!"
At that moment, Conch shattered into a million pieces. Fairness on the island disappeared. No one cared for one another. No one.
