The Doctor never let a companion stay with him if he did not like them. If he didn't like them, they would be carted off in an instant back to Earth. That is, if he could get them to Earth in the right time period. Whatever the case, it didn't mean he didn't ever get annoyed with them. Or scared of them. In fact, at this very moment… well, that didn't matter. All that mattered was that he get away now.

"Doctor!" a shrill voice called, making him go faster down the hall, trying to be as quiet as he could. "Doctor! I need to see you right now!" Oh dear, he was in trouble. What did he do this time? Oh, he bet it was something about him forgetting to warn her about that cord. How was he supposed to know that she wouldn't see it and end up tripping? She probably had tripped over it and was about to tear him a new one.

"Doctor!" The voice was getting closer. He had to find a place to hide. Quickly he yanked open a nearby door and quickly hid behind it. "Doctor!" The call had come from right next to the door. He was breathing heavily out of fear, but managed to keep quiet enough she couldn't hear him on the other side. "I'm going to kill him!" The voice was getting farther away. The Doctor breathed a sigh of relief.

"Same idea, eh, Doctor?" A voice came from behind causing him to jump quickly.

"Oh, it's just you, Turlough," The Doctor said in relief, "What are you doing here?"

"Same as you, I guess. Hiding from Tegan," Turlough answered.

"I-I am not!" The Doctor insisted quickly looking around and picking up a nearby tool, "I just needed a, uh… a…" He quickly examined the tool he picked up. "This." He showed Turlough the device.

"Why would need an atmospheric frequency coupling?" Turlough asked with an amused look.

"Er… well, I need it for… things," The Doctor quickly explained his voice cracking slightly.

"She's really upset with me," Turlough said.

"What? Why?" The Doctor wondered.

"I told her that humans were boring, and stupid. She seemed to take offense," Turlough explained.

"Ah, yes. They tend to do that," The Doctor said with a slight nod and an internal sigh of relief.

"She's probably trying to find you to tell you," Turlough continued.

"Yes, well," The Doctor said fidgeting with what was supposedly an atmospheric frequency coupling.

"I know," Turlough supplied with a nod. Suddenly Turlough looked afraid. The Doctor was slightly confused for a moment until he turned around to see the door having been opened and the Australian woman standing behind him.

"Eh heh…" The Doctor began nervously before quickly turning towards Turlough, "Yes, well, as I was just telling Turlough… Humans are not stupid and you should not insult them as such." The Doctor looked back at Tegan. She did not look happy at his effort to recover from her discovery here. "Er… apologize to Tegan." Turlough looked disbelievingly at The Doctor before catching Tegan's glance.

"I'm sorry," Turlough began shaking his head as if he were saying the stupidest thing ever.

"Thank you," Tegan said, "You're still not off the hook, or you Doctor." She stormed off down the hall.

"Sorry that you're species is so boring and stupid," Turlough added as soon as he was sure she was out of earshot.

"Be careful the next time," The Doctor requested.

"I'll try," Turlough said with almost an eye roll. The Doctor began out of the room. "The nucleonic baryon actuator?" The Doctor looked back confused before he had a light bulb moment.

"Ah, yes," The Doctor replied and set the device in his hands down, now not distracted and able to notice the huge difference between the two devices. Seems Turlough was able to catch him in a lie. No harm done anyways. The Doctor quickly left, heading in the opposite direction than Tegan had gone, despite needing to get to the console room and it being a shorter distance the direction Tegan had gone.

"Am I the only sane one on this ship?" Turlough asked himself looking up at the roof and shaking his head.
