"Hey," Sam greeted Janet as she wandered into her office, "How is he?"

"Resting comfortably," Janet smiled, "It's a painful fracture but it'll heal just fine. You can go in and say hi if you want."

"I will," Sam replied, "I just thought he'd have been…"

"What?" Janet asked confused.

"A little happier," Sam shrugged before grinning, "It is his first time being injured as part of SG1."

Janet laughed swinging a folder in her friend's direction as Sam ducked out and into the main infirmary.

Sam smiled to see Jonas sitting on the bed his ankle bandaged and elevated while his attention was focused on the small device in his hands.

"Hi," Sam said pulling a chair up along beside his bed.

"Hi," Jonas grinned before waving the box he was holding, "Colonel O'Neill loaned me his gameboy."

"I knew he had one," Sam laughed in triumph, "How's your ankle."

"Whatever Dr Fraiser gave me for the pain works wonders," Jonas smiled, Sam noticed he seemed a little unfocused, "I'm not sure what it was called."

"Morphine?" Sam suggested trying not to laugh.

"That's it," Jonas cried happily.

"So," Sam was biting the bottom of her lip slightly, "Lot's of pretty colours?"

Jonas nodded.

"I have to get back to work," she told him patting his leg, "I'll come by after dinner."

"Great," Jonas called returning his attention to the game.

Sam leaned against the doorframe of Jack's office.

"Can I help you Carter?" Jack asked glancing up at her before returning to the files in front of him.

"You know," Sam said, "As hard as you try to hide it the fact that you're a nice guy comes through every so often."

"Really?" Jack didn't look back up.

"You let him borrow your gameboy," Sam managed not to laugh or smile.

Jack shrugged, "I won't be using it for the next few days. Hammond is burying me under paperwork."

"Or it could be you don't actually dislike him as much as you pretend to," Sam finally walked in and dropped into the seat across from her CO.

"What made you think I didn't like him?" Jack's voice hardened and Sam knew she'd have to tread very gently now.

"Just an instinct," Sam teased managing to make him smile.

"Female intuition?"

"Scientific observation," Sam countered before bouncing up, "I'm meeting Teal'c for lunch. Want to join us?"

"Nah, if I don't finish this soon Hammond's going to have my head" he sighed after a moments thought, "I'll catch you later Carter."

"Sure sir."

"You are late," Teal'c said as she arrived in the commissary.

"I went to see if the Colonel wanted to join us," Sam told him.

"I assume O'Neill did not."

"He's working," Sam shrugged as she started to pick at her food, "Do we know what this is?"

"It tastes like chicken," Teal'c told her blandly making her smile.

"Well in five years they haven't killed us yet," Sam decided starting to eat, "I went to check on Jonas earlier."

"Dr Fraiser has said his ankle shall heal completely," Teal'c said digging in to his dessert.

Sam nodded, "I was wondering though, did we, I don't know ignore him?"

"What do you mean?"

Sam sighed jabbing her fork into what she was sure was a potato, "Before Jonas joined us, as a team we instinctively knew about each other. Have we been forgetting that Jonas doesn't have that?"

"We could not have predicted the accident," Teal'c told her, "Even before Jonas joined us it is more than likely one member of SG1 would be in the infirmary just now."

Sam shrugged, "I guess."

"If you are feeling guilty then I shall remind you," Teal'c stated before taking a bite of his potato leaving Sam waiting.

"Remind me of what?" Sam asked after a few minutes of silence.

"Jonas Quinn is having his first experience of being injured as a member of SG1."
