Hey guys, Matt here with another one-shot. It's, once more, rather short, but I hope you don't mind.

Escape

Blackness shrouded his vision. He didn't know what to do, floating in space. He couldn't feel; couldn't see or hear. All he knew, was that there was no way out. No escape. No release. He was doomed to roam this darkness forever, and it frightened him. It dawned on him that at least he could still think. At least, being alone, he had not the company of a physical being, but his thoughts. Perhaps he'd, by some miracle, find his way out through his mind. It was comforting to believe that he may have an escape route. The darkness always held such mystery- and it was never good. The darkness held monsters; beings of the underworld, only craving blood and death. That, is why he was scared. That, is why when he could suddenly see, hear, and feel, he thought he was going to die. Not but moments prior had he been fantasizing of an escape and now that he had it, he wished to be in the dark once more. It was more blissful than what he had now. He heard a distant shouting, steadily coming closer with each passing second until it filled his head. Was it him screaming? His whole body burned and ached, so it must be. He felt as if he was being engulfed by flames and his limbs were being torn off, one by one. It was excruciatingly painful - and yet he lived. His heart continued beating in his chest, even as his mind came crashing down on him.

This is what Matthew Williams felt as the doctors crowded him, trying to restrain their dangerous patient.

This is what Matthew Williams experienced every day, always reaching a level of awareness where he found himself confused as to why he wore a white jacket, the sleeves tied and chained around him.

And it all scared him.

A 17 year old, doomed.

Forever trapped,

in his own mind.
