This is too short to be a ficlet, so it's a drabble. We're back to margin scribbling, guys. I need to not write in my Spanish class made up of people from ages forty to seventy something. xD Seriously.
Disclaimer: I own nothing pertaining to Kingdom Hearts.

The gunblade hit the ground with a twang as its wielder collapsed against the rock wall behind him, slowly sinking to the ground. The warrior made no movement to defend himself, merely locking his steel-colored eyes on the steel blade pointed directly at his throat. Time stopped; even the air seemed to cease moving. Finally the man closed his eyes and sighed.
"I yield."
He heard his opponent lodge the previously threatening sword into the ground and plop down next to him.
"About time, Leonhart."
Leon let out a small huff; a laugh. "It's not my fault you're genetically enhanced. Sorta leaves me at a disadvantage, doesn't it?"
He received a half-hearted punch to the arm in response. "Shut up. You're just out of shape."
Leon smirked and tilted his head back to look up at the darkening sky. "Right. And this is coming from the guy who dragged me away from work because he felt restless. Your excuses suck, Strife."
Leon's smirk widened when Cloud punched him again. "Glad you agree."
Once upon a time, conversations such as these were forbidden. Mentioning either man's past was a taboo, a line that wasn't to be crossed.
But not anymore.
Somewhere along the line, the two warriors had formed camaraderie. They learned to read each other's movements and trust each other on the battle field. They began to see past the masks that shielded their emotions and fears, but never demanded that the other remove the mask for the world to see. It was a bond formed in silence by two men who would never let anyone share the burden carried on their shoulders.
They had found a sort of peace in each other, one that allowed them to sit in a comfortable silence together while they caught their breath.
They had learned how to enjoy the calm before the storm.
