New

Grace hadn't expected to meet someone at Africa. She was there to connect more with her brother, to find out what he was all about and she soon grew in love with Africa and it's people. Everyone was so carefree about things, and they were happy about having the simplest thing. Grace admired the way people from Africa acted, the way they took life a day at a time and didn't let things get to them. When she talked to Jacob he told her about his friends. Most of them had been through a lot, with their parents being murdered on the spot, with their best friends sometimes dying. The place was dangerous, but it also carried beauty with it.

And then she met him.

Daniel.

She hadn't expected to cheat on Grant. She felt terrible for it. Grant and Grace had been through a lot. She loved the way Grant could always make her smile and how sweet he was, but being in Africa, she wanted to try something new. And Daniel was every bit of new.

For one he was attractive. He was the perfect definition of tall, dark, and handsome.

But that's not what got to her.

It was the way that he acted. He was so proper, and wise. He was always telling her facts about Africa, or things he had learned in college. He gave her insight into the world, and she had never felt so excited about something before. He was daring, always trying new foods and encouraging Grace to do the same. He would show her around and they would talk for hours at a time. Daniel had become her best friend while she was in Africa, and she didn't want that to end.

And then all of the sudden her feelings for Daniel as a handsome friend changed. She couldn't distinguish if they were feelings for just a friend, or feelings of love. She didn't really have any guy friends. Most of the guys she knew she had always ended up being with, and Daniel was the same. But at the same time he was different. She thought for sure that he would be different.

When she looked at Daniel she saw her father again.

Ok so of course Daniel didn't look like her father, no, not at all.

But it was in his manners. The way he acted around her. The way he could lift peoples spirits and speak so passionately about something. She admired the way he knew just what he wanted in life, and he knew that he would set out to get that. Daniel was so many things she wanted to be, and so she thought that she loved him.

She never realized how different things might be when she came back home. At home it was a different environment. At home she would have to face her mother's opinion of Daniel. At home she would have to see Jack who she constantly went back and fourth with. But she was determined to have a fresh start.

She was determined to have something, or rather someone new in her life.

A/N: If this story is crappy, I'll just selfishly blame it on my sickness lol. I really don't feel good at all today but sitting in my room wasn't making things any better. I hope you guys enjoyed this though. I was watching some old episodes and I noticed that Daniel didn't seem all that bad. I don't know if he was right for Grace but he seemed like a good enough guy. Anyway thank you so much for reading! & For those of you who read Broken that story might have to be updated tomorrow (fingers crossed that I feel better by then - because after that I go back to school)
