Thunder roard above him as he watched his bother's corpse burn. Rain fell like needles, stinging his face and skin, but he could care less. He wondered fleetingly if he was crying while the flames hissed as the rain hit them.
He thought back to his brother's last heroic deed. He had tried to save him, to keep him out of that ogre's way, but nothing could have stopped him from provoking it. He knew what would happen, but he did it anyway.
"Garrett," his sister said softly. "We need to move on..."
He stared, silent, at the charred body. He turned to his sister suddenly, and threw his arms around her. He then let loose, sobbing and muttering about his guilt. His sister whispered to him that it'll be alright, he'll see, but he only cried harder.
The rain never let up, even as the sorrowful siblings left behind the charred body of their beloved brother.
