This is not my usual style. It feels strange.
It sounds like Synchrony, Symphony: The Sands of Time, as I said in the summary. Same premise, in fact.
But it's a poem. And it's slightly different.

Close your eyes gently now, child,
For in these few seconds, the rest of the world is asleep.
Listen to the starlight, whispering through the windows
And don't think of the pain that cripples you.
Don't think of the decades that pave your road to eternity.
Imprisoned you may be
Here beyond a thousand crystal walls,
Beyond the dirge of oblivion.
But please don't hide your face, dear child!
Brush your tears away—your sorrow makes my heart heavy.
No matter how the world darkens
How cold the night has grown
Don't hide your face from it, dearest one.
It is more beautiful than you may first believe.
I will always be here, watching you—
Whispering my own song in your ears
So you may not hear the song of the shadows.
::::
How long has it been, since we tasted the sunlight?
All I hear are the siren songs of the dying
And their empty prayers.
But beyond the shadows that fall, the rivers that die,
Swear that you will not forget my love.
I swear I will not forget yours.
::::
Burden not your heart, now—let sleep take you into its arms of solace.
I will stay awake in your place; I will be your heartbeat.
Promise you will sleep.
Promise you will smile for me, let go of all your pain—
And I promise I will let go of mine.
Imprisoned you may be, dear child—
Imprisoned by forgetfulness, by tears, by midnight.
But as long as I am here with you,
As long as you remember the meaning of love,
Your soul will always be free…
