Sephiroth watched on as Cloud carried Aerith's body to the water. Her blood slid down his face as he smiled contently. Cloud, on the other hand was mournfully crying over Aerith's death. He slowly let her sink to the bottom of the lake and the walked off with Tifa, who was also crying. After they both left, Sephiroth leapt down from a tree and by the water. He looked down inside the water and smiled. He could see his victim's cold face from inside the water. But something wasn't all that satisfying about his kill. He usually had a feeling of accomplishment after he had murdered someone. But this time he almost felt sorry for the girl. He looked at his long sword, which was covered in blood and then smeared off the blood from his face. "What's wrong with me?" he asked himself, "I should be happy that she's gone.I'm rid of her now!"

He stared at the water and saw his reflection. He was covered with blood. "Perhaps I should clean myself in this lake." he said starting to unclothe himself. (wink wink). He set his clothes aside and dived into the water. His long, white hair moved as graceful as his body. He was agilely turning and twisting through the water. He went up to the surface for air. "We'll camp here and leave in the morning, mother!" He called up to the trees. Jenova's head was resting on a branch silently. "I love you too, Mother!" he replied to Jenova's silence. He smiled at it then looked down at the water about to dive down again, but saw the shine of Aerith's sweet, pale face reflecting the light from above. He jumped back at the sight of her. 'She.looks so sad.' he thought but then shook his head, 'No, she just looks dead.' He glared at her coldly. "You can't fool me!" he yelled to the body, "You're as good as dead!"

He looked away reluctantly, trying not to think of her. He did a backward dive into the water and swam around playfully, but the image of Aerith was eating at the back of his mind. "This is my prayer." he thought he heard her say to him. He convinced himself that he was only hearing things.but the voice got louder. "You're only hurting yourself." the voice called. He glared at Aerith's cold, lifeless body and yelled, "Stop it! Accept your death!" Whatever she was doing, it didn't stop because he cursed under his breath before he held it and dived down to her. Closer and closer Sephiroth swam until he was right up to her, staring her coldly in the face. 'I should just leave you here to die.' he thought to her, knowing that she could hear. 'But you know you can't. You need me.' Her voice echoed through his head. He was quickly running out of air and didn't know what to do. 'Pray with me.' her voice called. Sephiroth looked to the surface, then to Aerith, then back to the surface. Quickly, he grabbed her corpse and swam as fast as he could for air.
