Keladry of Mindelan, Lady Knight, smiled grimly as she surveyed the man in front of her. He looked nervous, bedraggled hair sticking out at all angles, shifty blue eyes flickering to her face every few seconds. His face was resigned.

"I really had hoped it would turn out differently," She said haughtily, her face Yamani smooth. "Too bad for you, sergeant."

"Come on, Kel," A man to the side said, glancing sympathetically at the new slave. "Show a little mercy." The Lady Knight looked sharply at him.

"Wolset, I don't see how this concerns you," She snapped. "Return to your duties, Knight." The man called Wolset sighed heavily, glimpsing again at the disheveled man and took his leave. Kel turned her attention to the man in front of her once again. She looked him up and down with an air of contemplation, and then swiftly sat behind her desk, steeping her fingers thoughtfully.

"What to do with you," She murmured, her eyes locked on his. Suddenly he moved forward and grinned.

"I have a few ideas, Lady Knight," He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. To Kel's horror she blushed. His grin widened. Finally he dropped the act, surveying her seriously.

"Listen, Kel, you know I did it to protect you. You know I disregarded your command, and you know I would do it again. I will take whatever punishment, except that. It isn't enough to do that." Kel looked away.

"This is a long time coming, Dom," She murmured quietly, sadly. She glanced at him, surprised to see desperation and hurt welling in his eyes.

"Don't be silly, Keladry. You really want to do this?" He was quiet, serious, and frantic. She closed her eyes tightly, willing the tears not to come. When she opened them her face was again calm and expressionless. Dom swallowed hard at her swift change.

"I'm sorry Domitan," She said coolly. "I wish for a divorce." Dom stared hard at his wife, wondering at how in the space of minutes it had changed from light banter to something as serious as this.

"Why?" His voice came out hoarse.

"You know why," She snapped, getting up. "I really think you should leave now-"

"You don't love me?" He demanded, his mouth set in a grim line. She reeled like she had been punched in the face.

"I refuse to answer that. If you don't know my reasons then you don't know me well," She murmured. And that was the problem, wasn't it? He didn't know her anymore. They hardly spoke anymore, hardly had time. And they were both as stubborn as each other, every time something went wrong either in their relationship or at the camp neither would admit blame. They argued tirelessly, however Dom never thought it would come to this. They argued, sure, but they still loved each other.

"Kel," He protested pleadingly. She clenched her jaw, hard, putting a stop to the tears welling in her eyes.

"I'm sorry, Dom," She said miserably. Suddenly she straightened and collected herself until her gaze was level. "Please leave, Sergeant."
