Darkwing Duck parked the Ratcatcher at Steelbeak's latest hideout. The warehouse stood ominously and promised nothing but evil.

To Darkwing Duck…it promised vengence against the villain that took someone he held dear to his heart. The one who, besides Gosalyn, had given him a reason to live.

He got off and approached the building cautiously. He looked through the window and glared at the villain inside.

Stealbeak was aboutt opick up the phone when he heard a voice that was familiar, but full of anger and hate.

"I am the terror that flaps in the night…"

In a puff of smoke Darkwing appeared with his eyes blazing. "I am the nightmare that disturbs your sleep! I am DARKWING DUCK!!"

Steelbeak pulled out a gun and began firing. Drake dodged every bullet and drew out his own gun.

Steelbeak glared at him. "So…working alone tonight? Where's dat oaf of a partner of yers? Oh that's right HE'S DEAD!!!"

"Keep cool DW…" said a voice in his head.

He felt something squeeze his shoulder and he couldn't hold back the small smile. "You're wrong Steelbeak..he's here."

Steelbeak fired again but then went pale as a white glow formed between him and Darkwing Duck.

The glow acted as a shield and soon took the form of the dead pilot. He was dressed in his regular clothes but they were white and he glowed a warm golden color. Pure white wings were on his back.

Launchpad raised his hand and Steelbeak went flying into the wall.

Darkwing fired the net and trapped the villian. He then turned to his friend. He smiled tearfully. "Miss you."

Launchpad chuckled. "Don't see why. I never left DW and never will."

The hero gulped. "Y..you should be resting…with your family."

Launchpad laughed warmly. "You know me better than that! I chose this. Whenever you go to battle I will be there. You can't see me but I will be there. I'll help guard Gosalyn as she grows up. She needs you DW."

Darkwing nodded and wiped his eyes. When he looked up Launchpad was gone.

In his place was a feather. He went over and picked it up gently. For a second he felt that comforting touch again of his best friend.

Upon hearing sirens he went to the Ratcatcher and drove away with the feather in his pocket.

Once back at the tower though he secured the feather to his sleeve as a constant reminder of his very own Guardian Angel.
