HALLELUJAH
/Baby, I've been here before/
He was dreaming. He knew already.
/I've seen this room, I've walked this floor/
This... his house? He was dreaming about his house. And... someone he knew. His niece. Rose. He was dreaming about good times, good times shared between them.
/I used to live alone before I knew you/
He had. He remembered that day when she'd come to him, small. And also, then, insignificant. Of course, she'd quickly become part of his life as Colonel Roy Mustang.
/I've seen your flag on the marble arch/
She'd been part of his life, and others. Edward Elric was one of the most significant to her. Then that day... Both he and Fullmetal had cried. Hands down sobbing. And sobbing at what? A name on a headstone? An intricate box being buried? Whatever the reason, both the Flame and Fullmetal had cried.
/But love is not some victory march/
No, it wasn't. He'd learned firsthand. How could it be? It wasn't a fairytale that he was living in. Fairytale characters didn't sin, didn't have ambitions. This was real life, and it was a bastard.
/It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah/
That was about the gist of it... It was nothing more than a failure. How could he believe that love would get him through it this time? When Maes died, Rose had been there. When Rose died... no one. This time around, Edward had Aru once again. He knew the teen wouldn't have such a hard time. Maybe he'd feel like he would. Of course... Aru would comfort Edward, make him whole again, while Roy lay in pieces on the ground.
/Hallelujah.../
While he lay, shattered, watching hopelessly. Because the world never stopped turning, and he was just caught in the middle, hoping to be spared the agony of being churned in the wheel of time any longer.
