Dan didn't knew if that what he heard was real. The voices, who were whispering all around him, didn't seem to have a body, they where just floating around him. Sometimes, he wouldn't hear anything for ages. At least, it felt like ages. Time was irrelevant on the place he was.

Talking about the place, Dan couldn't say where he was. Everything was pitchblack and he couldn't move.
It felled like he was floating in water without being surrounded by water. It sounded weird if he thought about it. Everything sounded weird here.

He didn't want to admit what the weirdest thought was.

Maybe I'm just dead.

He didn't want to admit it, but he felt like he would be. Maybe it would explain everything. The reason qhy it was pitchblack, why he was floating around without being able to do anything, the voices he heard. But it could not explain one thing.

The fact that he still breathed.

You wouldn't breathe if you're dead, he thought. Yet, he still did. He didn't know how, he just knew. It was this small thing that lett him remember things weren't really over. It let him remember that he wasn't really dead.

But wat was he then? And where was he?
