Amy's Worst Nightmare

A young Amelia Pond sat in front of her bedroom window, dressed in coat, hat, scarf, gloves, the works.

In her hand was a blue box.

She stared up at the night sky, the stars seemed faint yet they still glistened. Where was he? Where was the Raggedy Man?

Amy looked around her room, she focused on her puppet for a few moments, half expecting it to change into him. But it did not. Her eyes were once again on the window.

Amy snapped her eyes shut and stayed like that for three seconds. She wished. She wished for her Raggedy Man, the Doctor. Yet nothing happened, then a movement was heard from outside her bedroom door...could it be? Her stomach jolted, her heart beat fast.

No. It was her aunt.

She walked into the room, and stood there, she looked over her niece.

"You aren't still waiting for him are you?"

Amy looked at her sadly, she was trying to stop her.

"Yes, I am. And he will come"

"No. He's not coming, Amy. He will never come. You need your sleep," Aunt Sharon said, she'd have to call a psychiatric again.

"Yes he is! He told me Aunty! He said he would," Amy protested as her aunt sat on her bed.

"Amelia. Haven't you realised? He will never come! He's just a figment of your imagina-"

"No!" Young Amy cried. "He's real! He was there! He said that he would return, I'm waiting for him, I won't give him up!"

Sharon sighed and rubbed her temples.

"Amy..." she began, thinking of what to say next. "Amy, you probably just dreamed about him, and it seemed real to you.."

"But it was real! Aunty, he was here and he said he'd come. I'm waiting!" Amy looked away from her aunt and looked out the window again. She just didn't understand.

"Fine," Sharon stood up. "Goodnight Amy, but I'll telling you he's just apart of your-"

"Go." Amy's voice wavered, she was about to cry.

The door closed and her aunt was gone.

Amy let the tears flow, they ran warm stripes down her cheeks. Why did no one believe her? Why did they think she had lost her mind?

"They don't know," She breathed between sobs. "They don't know that you're real, Raggedy Doctor," Another hitched breath. "I know you are, and I'm waiting, I'll always be waiting."

She wiped her still flowing tears and looked out the window. Amelia Jessica Pond, wouldn't give up, she'd wait for him. The Doctor.

Amy Pond's eyes opened abruptly, she lifted a hand to her face...it was wet. Had she been crying? She sat up, she was up high. She was on the top bunk of her and Rory's bunk-bed, it was her turn to sleep on top.

Amy looked down, there was Rory fast asleep, his mouth agape. She smiled and sniffed, she was fine, she was in the TARDIS with her husband and her Raggedy Doctor. There was no need to cry over a silly dream, no need to keep on waiting, because she was with him and he did come.

But the dream still haunted her, still made her sad, and still seemed so real. Push that out of your head Amy! She thought That happened it the past, it's fine now! I'm all right!

And at that. She went back to sleep.
