A/N: A late, super sappy songfic for Valentine's Day! I highly recommend listening to the song while reading.

Throughout the course of their relationship, there have been several occasions where Lovino regretted letting Alfred get drunk. He was currently debating whether or not this was going to be one of them.

Alfred sat in a chair across from him, in the living room of one of his smaller homes in Calabria, tuning a guitar.

"Do you even know what you're doing?" Lovino asked impatiently, sipping his wine. He had been watching Alfred fiddle with the tuning keys for nearly five minutes now, and the curiosity was starting to get to him.

"Yeeeahhhh…" Alfred drawled as he plucked a few strings, brows furrowed in concentration. He nodded, seeming satisfied with their sound. "Okay! Ready to go!"

"So what are you doing?" Lovino asked.

Alfred grinned, "I'm serenadin' ya!"

Lovino gave him a look before pinching the bridge of his nose. "Alfred. Serenading is something you do to women." He deadpanned.

"Nuh-uh!" Alfred shot back indignantly, clutching the guitar to his chest, "Serenadin' is something you do to someone you love. So I'm serenadin' you." He slurred.

Lovino sighed, sitting his drink down and crossing his arms over his chest as Alfred began slowly plucking out the first notes of a song that sounded…vaguely familiar…

"Wise men say, only fools rush in,"

Oh God, it was Elvis!

"but I can't help, falling in love with you.

Shall I stay,

would it be a sin?

If I can't help, falling in love with you."

The saccharine, sugariness of it all made Lovino squirm. He felt hot from his Adam's apple all the way up to the tips of his ears.

"Like a river flows, surely to the sea.

Darling so it goes,

some things are meant to be."

He pulled his knees up to his chest, closing his eyes and burying his face in them, he tried to focus solely on Alfred's voice, which was actually…rather nice.

"Take my hand, take my whole life too,

for I can't help falling in love with you.

Like a river flows, surely to the sea.

Darling so it goes,

some things are meant to be.

Take my hand, take my whole life too,

for I can't help falling in love with you,

for I can't help falling in love with you."

As the last note faded, the room was enveloped in a calm silence. Lovino peeked up at Alfred, and felt his blush come back full force at the dopey, serene smile on the blond's face.

Alfred chuckled, putting the guitar down and coming to sit beside him. As he slung an arm around Lovino's shoulders, and kissed the top of his head, Lovino thought to himself that maybe letting Alfred drink didn't always end badly.
