Angel stood at the headstone and touched his hand to it ever so slightly. He heard a voice behind him and he turned to look.
"Oz."
"Hey man…I heard and I came to see how things are."
"Things are….everything is shattered. My whole world is shattered Oz."
Oz knelt down next to him.
"Yeah, I felt the same way after Willow died. It kind of rips your heart out."
Angel sat on the ground and wiped a tear away.
"Yeah, I loved her so much. God I didn't want her to go that way. Not that way."
Buffy had been sired by another vampire and she had gone evil. Angel had no other way to go but stake her.
"Oh please Angel, you couldn't do it even if you wanted too. You love me too much."
Angel stood staring at Buffy.
"If I thought there was another way I would do it. If I kill you, I'll be doing you a favor. You can't live like this Buffy. And I refuse to stand by and let you die like this."
Buffy walked right up to him, she was almost right up in his face.
"Then do it coward, show me how much you love me."
Angel looked into her eyes. Where was Buffy Summers? She was dead, and all that stood before him was a shell of what she used to be. The wild look in her eyes, the smell of blood all over her, it was almost too much for him. He raised the stake and with one quick motion, stabbed her. She fell to ash almost at once and all Angel did was turn and walk away.
"Angel there was no other way and you know that," Oz said.
They sat in silence for a few moments.
"What are you going to do?" Oz asked.
Angel gently rubbed his hand over the head stone and shed a lonely tear.
"I'm going to wait for sun up."
Oz was shocked for a minute, but then nodded his head like he understood
"Hey man, whatever you have to do."
Oz stood up to leave. He put a hand on Angel's shoulder and he stood up to give his old friend a hug.
"Take care old friend," Angel said.
Oz pulled out of the hug and started to walk away. He stopped suddenly and turned to look back at Angel.
"Say hi to Willow for me."
"I will."
Oz walked away as the sun slowly came up over the trees. Angel sat down next to the headstone, scared to die, but he also knew that he and Buffy would soon be together again.
"I'm coming my love…I'll be there soon."
And the sun engulfed Angel in flames.
The End
