Even Wizards Have to Have Some Fun

Elladan walked slowly through the halls of Rivendell enjoying the peace. He could hear faint voices carried on the wind singing an Elvish song.

Suddenly the peace was broken and Elladan dove to his left to avoid being trampled by the blonde haired Elf hurtling down the hall. He looked suspiciously like Glorfindel.

"You'd think he'd be more careful," an Elf nearby who also had a near miss, grumbled to Elladan.

"Was that Glorfindel?" Elladan asked.

"Yeah. Something serious must have happened. He's running like the army of Mordor were on his heels," the Elf said.

*~*~*~*~*

Glorfindel burst into Elrond's room. The Elf was asleep in his chair, a blissful expression on his face.

The blissful expression disappeared when he was rudely awakened by Glorfindel bellowing his name in his ear.

"If the house isn't falling down then leave me alone," Elrond snapped.

"Your daughter took my horse!" Glorfindel yelled.

"Arwen is on a very important errand," Elrond said calmly.

"That does not give her the right to steal my horse!" Glorfindel protested.

"She is only borrowing Asfaloth for a week or two," Elrond said, beginning to get annoyed. "You will have him back soon."

Glorfindel started to argue but stopped when he realised that it might not be a good idea to annoy the Lord of Rivendell. He turned and stormed out of the room, almost walking into Gandalf.

"Maybe I should not have told her to take any horse," Elrond sighed to his friend.

The wizard smirked. "Maybe I should not have told her to take Asfaloth."

"You did this?" Elrond demanded. "You knew that he would not be happy about anyone taking his horse without his permission. Arwen is going to be in some trouble when she gets back."

"It is going to be quite entertaining," Gandalf smirked.

*~*~*~*~*

When Arwen rode into Rivendell two weeks later Elrond, Gandalf and a very angry Glorfindel met her.

"You stole my horse!" Glorfindel said as soon as Arwen stopped.

"Frodo needs help," she gasped. "He's dying."

"I do not care. You stole my horse," Glorfindel snapped.

Elrond lifted Frodo off Asfaloth's back and handed him over to some Elves who hurried him inside the house. Arwen followed.

"Nice to see you too," Elrond muttered, a little miffed that she had just walked away.

Glorfindel followed her, still protesting about Asfaloth.

"He was the fastest horse left," Elrond heard his daughter argue.

"It would have nice if you had asked before just riding off on him for two weeks," Glorfindel shot back.

Elrond stared at Gandalf. The wizard was leaning casually against a stone pillar blowing smoke rings in the air.

"What?" he asked innocently. "I am allowed to have some fun every now and then."

Elrond shook his head and followed his daughter and Glorfindel into the house. Wizards were strange people indeed.
