Prompt:
#42 Gravity
Word Count: 285
Summary: Sirius gets nostalgic
while looking through old pictures.
Warnings: None.
Notes: This
takes place after Azkaban, but before Sirius' death.
"Oh man, do you remember that one summer, back in '75? We had so much fun, and Moony and Wormtail got so mad at us! We always loved giving them a scare. Remember the look on Lily's face the first time we jumped off the roof of the greenhouse? She didn't want to be worried for you, but she couldn't help it. She was still in denial about liking you."
Sirius took a moment to look down at the picture of James Potter that he'd been clutching. It was all he had left to remind him of his best friend, all except for his godson, Harry.
"...remember how McGonagall gave us detention for three weeks after that, and we spent them trying to convince her that she couldn't live without us?"
The picture showed James flying around on his broomstick, laughing, a carefree look on his face. Whenever Sirius looked at that picture, he got very nostalgic, and often spoke to it, as if James could hear him.
"And remember when we jumped off the cliffs by the lake, even though neither of us could swim very well, and Moony had to jump in and save us? And when we were asked why we jumped, you told everyone that we didn't actually jump, that you actually fell, and I came in after, forgetting that I couldn't swim. And when Lily asked you how we could have fallen in, your only response was 'Gravity'?"
Remembering this, Sirius' face turned into a wide grin. He couldn't help but feel good inside when he remembered the old times, a time before Azkaban, and the war.
"...and when you said 'Gravity', Remus smiled and said 'He's got a point.'"
