It was a very stormy night. Thunder was a constant, and flashes of lightning were spaced only a minute between each other. The rain was coming down sideways, and the National Weather Service was constantly flashing storm warnings on the TV, and radio- making that ever so annoying "beep" noise that was perhaps scarier than the storm it's self.
Kat and her husband, professional wrestler Sting, were laying awake in bed- watching the storm thru the huge window.
"It's coming down hard." Sting states and holds his wife close.
"It's only a matter of time before a tornado watch or warning is issued." Kat stated, knowing this weather much too well.
"It wouldn't surprise me." Sting states.
Suddenly the power cuts off, and everything goes dark.
Kat and Sting hear their door creek open a little bit.
They immediately knew who it was. It was their adopted son, a 5 year old little boy named Dean.
He was wearing Hulk Hogan footie pajamas, and was clutching a Hulk Hogan wrestling buddy pillow.
"Come here, buddy." Sting states, and pats the bed.
"I'm scared." Dean sniffles, and hops up on the bed, getting in the middle of Sting and Kat.
"It's ok, baby." Kat muttered.
"We won't let anything bad happen to you." Sting reassures.
"It's really dark, except for when the sky lights up." Dean states.
"That's lightning. It's like nature's strobe light." Kat laughs.
"It's scary." Dean mutters.
"But it's ok. We'll protect you." Sting states, and tussels Dean's hair.
"That thunder is loud."
"I know, Deanie. I know." Kat says.
"How can I ever sleep with all that noise?"
Sting and Kat laugh softly.
"Just think about something that makes you happy." Kat says.
"Think about being a world champion wrestler! Think of how much fun it is!" Sting smiles.
"You were a world champion a lots of times. What's it like?" Dean asks.
"It's everything you could imagine it to be. Fans love you. You're the very best of the very best. It's so much fun and you can get anything and everything you want."
"So when I'm a world champion, I can get a bathtub filled with ice cream?" Dean asks, sounding very amazed.
"If that's what you want, then you can get it! What flavor?"
"Chocolate!" Dean giggles.
"Chocolate is a good choice!"
"Chocolate is always a good choice." Kat laughs.
"I'm gonna go try to sleep and think of being a world champion with a lot of ice cream now. Can I sleep with you guys?"
"Of course you can, Deanie." Kat states.
"The little world champion doesn't even need to ask. He's always welcome. Sweet dreams, champ." Sting states, and kisses him on the forehead.
"We'll be right here when you wake up." Kat smiles and also kisses Dean on the forehead.
The storm rolled on, but Dean managed to fall asleep easily- much to Kat and Sting's amazement.
Sleep didn't come as easily for Kat and Sting, but they stayed awake long enough to watch the storm in it's entirety, and really got to appreciate it's beauty.
