Falling. That's how I felt when I was about to die. Then I thought about what I was to find again when I was to leave. That thought brightened me. I thought of one person:
Kirtik.
I was to see him again! He would be waiting for me on the other side! A door of light appeared. I opened it. The world that was the best and worst of everything was behind it. The place where so many lives had been taken. I walked through the marvelous garden, everything as bright and as beautiful as you could imagine. Nothing had changed, nothing would, I knew that. I kept on walking. The river came into my view. I ran and as I ran, I felt my legs get stronger, I looked at my hands and found that the skin was as creamy white and firm as when I had last seen my love. My Kirtik. I looked across the river. My face lit up and my insides melted instantly. I searched for the boat, what I found was an even bigger surprise.
"Gogon!" I ran to my old friend, she lowered the plank and walked aboard.
"Hello, most high, it has been too long," she hissed. She lurched forward.
When I looked across, I not only saw the man of my dreams, but my father, my mother, looking as happy and healthy as ever. A twinge of pain shot threw it, I remembered my mother, crumped on the floor, dead and unmoving.
And I remembered my father, the hopeless being that he was when he was alive. I didn't want to remember that,
I didn't have to anymore.
Gorgon stopped, the plank lowered. I looked at her, thought about how much of a friend that she was, how she helped me. I smiled sadly.
Her snakes quieted, lulled by the emotion in the moment. I had nothing to say that could express what I felt right now, so I smiled broader, she brightened.
I ran down the plank, hugging m parents.
"My beautiful Gemma," my father kissed my fire-like hair.
My mother came up to me. "I am so proud of you, you have no idea," she wrapped her arms around me, I gave her a tight squeeze, then let go.
I turned. Kirtik's eyes danced with joy, with love. I slowly closed the distance between us, stopping right in front of him. He pushed back a stray piece of hair that flew in front of my face. I smiled. Our faces moved closer to each other, our lips touched. I wrapped my arms around his neck, deepening the kiss. He lifted me from the ground my the waist, spinning me around in a fast circle. I laughed into his mouth, smiling like a maniac. "Kirtik!" He stopped. Setting me down and staring into my piercing green eyes.
"You don't know how long I have been waiting along this river, to hear you say that," he took hold of my hand, and we walked on, wherever we went, I was content, I had everyone that I needed. My parents trailed behind,
as we all- finally- walked into the light.
