Yay I have another Cloud/Aerith fic! And I have another one up in about two minutes lol. This one is number two on KittyCatriona's Clorith Challenges:

What do you think would have happened if Cloud had caught Aerith/Aeris' hand at the end of the game?

To Be With You

Blue Mako eyes stared coldly as the man before him slumped to his knees. Cloud watched emotionlessly as Sephiroth, the man who had ripped everything from him collapsed in a pool of blood. Cloud lowered his sword slowly and stared at the body for any signs of life. He wasn't breathing and that in itself made the blonde release a long sigh. It was over. Finally, he had avenged Nibelheim, his mother.

And most importantly, Aerith.

He stood silently for a moment, his eyes starting to glaze at the thought of the flower girl. Revenge hadn't made him feel better at all. It hadn't brought her back and all it had resulted in was turning him back into the murderer he had tried so hard to leave behind him. But it seemed that without Aerith there was no point in doing anything anymore.

A bright light broke him from his thoughts and he looked up in puzzlement as the green liquid gently surrounded him.

"Lifestream?" he muttered gently, reaching his hand up to touch it. It started to coil upwards and his eyes followed, widening slightly as they fell on the large pool from which it was issuing. A soft, pale hand was reaching out to him, the hand that had sold him a flower in Midgar.

Aerith!

He reached up, a small smile creeping onto his face as the thought of her being there filled his mind. The hand stretched down until he could feel the cool fingertips brush against his palm before lacing with his own, pulling him gently back towards the lifestream pool. The last thing he remembered was passing through the liquid.

And then, everything went black.
