Hey everyone. This story was written for both Marauder Map Madness, and Fortnightly Challenges Thread's World of Orphans on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. For Marauder Map Madness my prompt set was 238. Gift Shop: (scenario) Trying to find a gift for someone, and 249. The Scullery: (character) Lucius Malfoy. For World of Orphans I wrote for prompt 19. Tom Riddle - (object) Locket. I hope you all enjoy Anniversary Locket.
Lucius was practically frantic as he looked around the little store on Diagon Alley. He had search all over for the best present to get for his and Narcissa's anniversary but so far had come up with nothing. He knew she'd love anything he got her but he wanted this anniversary present to be something from his heart. Nothing so far had jumped out as something would come from his heart.
"What about this one, Dad?" asked his eight year old son Draco holding up something for him to see.
Walking over to where Draco, who'd run ahead of him, stood next to a jewelry display. It had several beautiful babbles all splayed out but when he got closer to his son Lucius saw that Draco was holding one of the most beautiful babbles out of the collection. It was a gold chained locket engraved with small diamonds all over it.
"That is beautiful, son," Lucius told his boy as he took the necklace from him. "Do you think we should get some earrings to go with it?"
Draco looked thoughtful for a moment before he nodded eagerly. His mother had told him to be her voice during this trip after all knowing that Lucius would likely to listen to Draco.
"Alright," Lucius scanned the display of other babbles to find the right earrings. Seeing earrings that looked like they'd match the diamonds engraved in the locket he held them for Draco to look at. "These look like they match?"
"Yes, father," Draco told him.
"You," he called to one of the sales people, "we'll take these items and wrap them."
A few minutes later Draco, and Lucius walked into the house with the wrapped presents for Narcissa. Narcissa was waiting for them in the drawing room as the house elves bustled about preparing their mistresses favorite meal on their master's order. Walking over to Narcissa Lucius present the two wrapped boxes to her.
"These are for the most beautiful witch I have ever laid eyes on," Lucius told her. "Happy anniversary, darling."
He watched eagerly as she unwrapped the boxes and opened them. The look on her face was one of pure joy and he could tell he had done the right thing in listening to Draco. Putting the locket around Narcissa's neck he pulled her into a kiss just as the house elves announced that dinner was ready. This was turning out to be one of the best anniversaries ever.
I hope you all enjoyed Anniversary Locket. I like to think that Lucius has bad taste in anniversary present and Narcissa would send out her son to try to get the present she wanted from her husband. Plus it makes for lots of fluff.
