It was raining outside. Not exactly a torrential downpour, but raining all the same. I sloshed through the puddles on the sidewalk with a slight amusement. "How old are we now? Six?" My mother asked with a pang of irritation. "I'm just trying to walk mom, it's not my fault that the puddles just so happen to be there." With that, she had quieted herself and left me with nothing but a sneer. Ever since I was little she had always treated me with disdain. I'm not sure if it was because my father had left her with me at a young age, or if I was just a giant disappointment. Either way, we're only stuck with one another for one more year. I couldn't wait until I could finally move out and get away from my house. I was well on my way to college, however, so I could just stay on campus. "I don't understand why you have to come with me to work.." I mumbled.

"Well, young man, I want to get an update on how you're doing from your boss. I know how you get sometimes."

I huffed at her reasoning. She only wants to know so she can get in my business. She only acts like she cares, I think she does it to irk me. "Mom I haven't had an incident since that time." I protested.

"I don't care I still have to check."

A couple weeks ago something that we couldn't explain happened. My mom and I were having one of our bigger arguments, which college I should attend, and I had gotten very heated. All of a sudden everything, including myself, started to float off of the ground. Once I had realized what was happening everything gently placed back down. The argument had ended immediately due to this strange occurrence. My mother has treated me like a wild animal since that. The only thing she cares about is her reputation, so she's been going around asking everyone that I know if I had been acting weird. Everyone said no of course because, despite everything, I hadn't told a soul about it. We walked into my job, MacDonald's, and she immediately went to my manager. "Is troy here today?" she asked in her polite, but not actually wanting to be polite, tone. "Not today ma'am, he's out sick." My mother decided to leave it at that. Lookingdefeated, she walked out.
