Aragorn was not having a good day.
The elves, however, were quite amused. They grouped in clumps among the pillars, laughing and pointing, whispering among themselves in the low voices that only elves would hear or speak in. Of course, they were too polite to do such things anywhere where Aragorn could see or hear them, but he knew that they did. Elves never fell prey to his problem.
Legolas tried not to let his humor show as he gently kissed him on the nose and grinned. "Don't worry, love, they're not about to disown you. Nor do they hate you."
Aragorn only grumbled. He was in for a long wait as the elves were unlikely to stop their teasing until this was long over. It was demeaning. It was annoying. And none of the elves had to deal with it.
Because Aragorn had the sniffles.
