Eli shoved his face deeper into the sleeping bag and screamed. His life was rapidly deteriorating, and he knew he had lost control. It had all started with Rush, and it looked like it was now ending with him, too. Eli had been snatched from his house and beamed aboard a space ship, only to be taken to another planet and told to help solve some ridiculously hard equation. As if that couldn't have gotten any weirder, he was soon attacked –by who? –and had to evacuate through a wormhole to an unknown location. It ended up being a ship billions of light years away from Earth, lucky him. After all the stupid drama on the Destiny, less as of recently, thank God, Eli had managed to figure out that he was falling in love with Rush. A somewhat stranger, a man, a much older man, his teacher, his friend, a psychopath, and an absolutely perfect person.

After you have loved, can you love again? Is it possible to love that other person, or would you feel you were betraying the first? Thoughts like these were flying through Eli's head as he lay face down on his sleeping bag in his private room. It was over the last week on the Destiny that he had come to realize that Rush was quickly becoming more than just a mentor to him and he was falling in love with him instead. Eli rubbed his temple.

Could Rush possibly like him back? Eli knew that it was almost certainly impossible; they were both male, Rush being significantly older than him and presumably straight, but even those things aside, was it possible? Eli knew Rush had been married once, his wife now dead. Rush had loved. Having never married, Eli had no idea if there was room in a person's heart to love again. Even if Rush did like him, quite improbable, would he feel like he was betraying his wife? Would he feel guilty for having feelings for another person? Eli screamed into his sleeping bag once again.

Eli's headaches were relieved the next night when Rush kissed him. So Eli concluded that while he may never know what Rush is feeling, yes, it is possible, for Rush to love again, and for Rush to love him.
