Before the End
A fanfic
Before the end came—well, it was his end, not hers or anyone else's—he asked her if in another life, in another place, in another destiny, if she would have loved him instead.
No, she said, and the apology in her eyes was sad but she was honest and most unyielding when she denied him her love.
Because, she explained, she didn't think she could love anyone else besides her precious Endymion. Their love was strong and transcended time, across centuries, through millennia, past all sorts of joy and cruelty. Even if it were in another life, another place, another destiny, her memory of Endymion in some life once upon a time ago would be with her, and even if she did not know it, her heart would feel it.
So that is why, she concluded, she could not love him. Because what pain would it be, not to her, but to him, if they were to come together, and if her heart was in some little place yearning for another love. She was sorry, so very sorry, but fiercely dedicated to her Prince and no other. Love was wholesome, love was entire, and she would not want him to wither away, loving her, when she could not give all of her heart to him. That was not what love was, and she wished, so earnestly that it made him sad, that he would find another, better person, who would give all of their heart to him.
That was her most sincere wish, and as she and her love brought him to his end, his death, he remembered this, and hoped that in another life, he would love another as well, to save him pain and her as well.
And had she known? For behind her furious and desperate façade, her eyes, her beautiful, deep blue eyes which revealed her truest emotion, smiled kindly at him as he faded into the light.
Wish you the best, he heard her eyes say.
Yes, he replied.
Author's Note: I wrote this as a response to some people who wanted a bit more with this fic. I know it isn't much, and the title is entirely different (Demon's Beauty to Before the End) but this little short piece is something I really like and I hope you liked it too. In case it didn't make sense (meaning I failed to accomplish what I set out to do as a writer but oh well), this is written after what happens in the previous 'chapter.' The end I refer to here is when Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask finish Prince Demand after he goes bonky (if I'm still clear in my Sailor Moon facts). I wrote this because I wanted to show that despite how bitter Usagi was in the previous chapter, and no matter how much Demand's obsession over her suffocated her, Usagi is truely a good person with a big heart; she is able to feel sorry and wish him the best, and still stand by her principals. She will love Mamoru/Tuxedo Mask/Endymion for eternity, and she although she cannot give all of her heart to Demand she will send her kind heart out to him in pure hopes that he finds someone truely meant for him, as Mamoru is meant for her. She is, I believe, a beautiful character, and I hope I was able to reflect some of her beauty in this.
Thank you for reading!!
