She~A Teen Titans Fanfiction

By Forever3330

She couldn't remember when it had started. The meticulous documentation, almost unconscious, of everything her friend did. The secret savoring of the chance moments when their hands would brush, or their eyes would meet, or when words that were particularly sweet were said. The precious smiles and memories, all tucked away, forever, within the deepest reaches of her heart and mind.

She had tried to stop it, once she realized what was happening. She was furious with herself; she was Raven. She did not feel Love, if this obsession, this pain, could be called such a thing. A tiny part of her mind reminded her of the utter sweetness of the longing, the beauty, but she ignored it. So, she avoided the source of the feelings she could not, would not, have.

Raven gave this particular plan up within a week, defeated. No matter where she went to hide, to avoid, no matter how secret, her friend would come, smiling, not seeming to notice how the dark girl just disappeared moments later, just finding her again.

Now was different. Not so much as her not avoiding, because sometimes, when the weight of the world became heavy, she would hide. She had simply accepted. She, Raven, was capable of Love. She was IN Love.

"Raven!" A colorful figure, decked in pink and white with heats galore, came to her side at the rooftop, beaming. "It is time for the Earth holiday celebration. Are you not coming? I have gifts."

"Gifts for Valentines' Day, Star?" Raven glanced at the other girl before looking back at the horizon, watching the sun set, clashes of bright and dark colors trailing behind it.

"Is that not proper?" Starfire blinked. "I have seen such exchanges on the TV."

"It's fine." Raven turned, coming to the ground from her meditative position as she did so. "Normally they're only given to someone you really like, is all."

Star's smile grew ever more vibrant. "I 'really like' all of my friends!" Then, still cheerful, "And I 'really like' you most of all! We are 'best friends', are we not?"

The other girl just smiled quietly, silent for a moment. Then she spoke. "Yeah. We are."

"Always." The alien girl nodded sternly, before grinning. "We must hurry before Cyborg and Robin and Beast Boy eat all the Glorkak."

            "Glorkak.?"

"Food from my home planet!" Star smiled.

"Ah." Raven nodded, slightly afraid, but not too much. "I'll be down in a few seconds."

"As you say, friend Raven." The other girl hovered in midair for a moment, then flew back to whence she had come.

"Best friends." Raven looked at the sunset once more, calculating. "Then what's Robin? Is he your something more.?" She shook her head, quieting the voices from within. "It doesn't matter. I'm still here. I'll be here until you notice me, Star. When you want to."
