Fallen and Barren

Author's notes: yes…I know I'm not updating anymore… but we have so much stuff to do at school and it's making my brains do summersaults. I wish I could write more but hey, I'm here with a new (short) story for all of you… this is one of the products of stress… oh, yeah! I dedicate this story for my new community, Sakura Heaven! (hurrah…bless be the managers of such wonderful C2s). Review… I did this story for 20 mins…without even proof-reading it and planning for it! ( as usual)
Disclaimer: you know, I've been saying this in all of my stories, I don't own Naruto…and never in my farthest dreams try to reach that star.
Ooo000ooO
I wanted to reach you so badly… but as always, reaching for a star is absolutely impossible.
She worked slowly, picking up the fishes thrown by Naruto in the shore. The mission was simple, they have to clean the river from dirt and catch some fishes for dinner. Team 7 has done their job well. Now, all they have to do was catch some fish and be ready for their break. Almost all of them were happy. Even the serene Uchiha Sasuke was enjoying himself.
She was the only one who was looking like a rotten milkfish. She faked her smile in front of friends and silently watched those stuck twigs into the fish, trying to cook it in the fire.
Naruto didn't notice her sadness for reasons that he was busy telling Kakashi-sensei about his new technique. Of course, the older guy was half-listening, carefully praying that somehow this child would stop. Sasuke, who was in-charge of burning the fishes, was looking at his teammate with a hint of some concern.
He stood up, walked a few steps and stopped in front of Sakura. He uttered a noise which startled Sakura from her deep sanctuary.
" the sky would be dark later, so if we all want to go home early, we should eat now" he stated with eyes not facing the girl.
"ok" she replied absent-mindedly.
Now he knew, Sakura was quite different today. He dismissed the fact early that morning but now, he realized it was true. But..what is bothering her? he asked himself.
"Sasuke-kun…"
"hn"
"the sky is already dark"
"right"
"there are stars too.." she smiled tiredly at him
Sasuke didn't reply, instead he looked up and observed the shining things that hang up in the night.
"you know what… I really wanted to catch at least one of that…" she pointed to a random luminary and again, smiled bitterly.
"hn…if I am that star…I'd rather fall and let you catch me" he said slowly. He was not thinking of it, just a slip of his mouth, slipped from his mind.
Eyes wide, Sakura looked at him with detailed shocked.
"really, would you do that?"
"do what?"
"the one you said earlier"
"hmm…depends if you're ready"
"…"
Sasuke looked at her, wondering why didn't she replied. The current conversation suddenly sinked in into his mind making him again, the usual stoic Sasuke that Sakura knew.
He stood up and walked towards the fishes, which were charcoal by that time. He mentally slapped his head and walked hurriedly to attend to their supper.
Sitting alone, in that shore, Sakura whispered, "arigato". Her words carried by the wind, bit by bit disappearing into the cold night. She's happy now… knowing that she would catch that star.
