Callie breathed a sigh of relief and exhaustion as she entered the elevator of her apartment building. She leaned back against the wall of the elevator, propping herself up to conserve what little energy she had left after a long, hectic Thanksgiving Day at the hospital. She'd managed to get off a few hours early, but not in time to join in any Thanksgiving festivities. She felt a pang of sadness, remembering that this was yet another holiday where her career had taken precedent over spending time with her loved ones. Arizona had the day off and had gone to Meredith and Derek's house where those lucky enough to be off duty were having a Thanksgiving lunch.

As the elevator dinged, indicating that she had reached her floor, Callie exited, looking forward to collapsing on the couch with some take out for a few hours before heading to bed. As she swung open the apartment door, she stopped in her tracks, met with a vision of complete chaos.

"Crap!" Arizona's voice rang out across the apartment. Callie smiled, noting that her girlfriend must be really upset if she was using even a mild curse word. She couldn't help but laugh as she surveyed the scene in front of her. Arizona was currently running around the kitchen, waving a towel in the air in an attempt to clear some of the smoke currently filling the room from a burnt turkey. There were dishes scattered everywhere, a broken plate on the floor, and some unknown substance splattered across the kitchen wall. Arizona's hair was a mess and it looked as if she was wearing half of the mashed potatoes. She was adorable.

Callie's laugh caught the blonde's attention and she looked up and met Callie's gaze. "You're home early!" Arizona said in surprise. "I was hoping to surprise you with a Thanksgiving dinner. Instead, you get to come home to this disaster." She said in disappointment.

Callie's heart swelled with love at the notion, touched beyond words that Arizona would do such a thing for her. She knew that Arizona generally treated cooking as a fearful activity only to be attempted in an absolute emergency. The fact that her girlfriend had put this fear aside in an attempt to make the holiday special for her made Callie's heart skip a beat. How had she gotten so lucky? She silently wondered to herself.

Callie quickly strode across the room, wrapped the blonde in her arms and gave her a quick, but tender kiss. "Thank you, baby. This is awesome."

"But the turkey . . ." Arizona gestured to the forlorn looking bird. "It's burnt. And I'm not so sure most of the other dishes are in any better shape. I wanted this to be perfect for you."

"It is perfect. YOU are perfect." Callie replied, gently caressing her cheek in an attempt to show her gratitude.

And it was perfect. After Callie did as much damage control as she could with the food, they sat down to a perfect, although somewhat burnt Thanksgiving feast. Despite this, Callie could quite honestly say it was the best Thanksgiving meal that she had ever eaten. It was perfect.
