After the League had completed a mission they retired to the lounge in the watchtower. As the others busied themselves with mundane tasks, Wally feverishly tried to explain the 'why did the chicken cross the road?' joke to Wonder Woman. She just looked at him disdainfully, but he could tell that she was close to laughing. It was something at least. Then he noticed Batman watching from the shadows. He felt the usual blush creep up from his neck and flood onto his cheeks. His thoughts raced. Had he done anything wrong lately?

Damn! Why did he always do that when Batman was watching him? It wasn't fair. He hadn't necessarily done anything wrong. Besides what did Batman have to complain about? OK, so his parents were brutally murdered, but at least they wanted him in the first place! He looked around the room furtively glancing at J'onn to make sure he hadn't caught any of that. His face remained impassive so Wally assumed he hadn't heard anything. He sighed. He had always felt like an outsider to the team. It was great to be on it but he just couldn't shake the feeling that he wasn't wanted or appreciated. Sometimes he wondered if they just kept him on because they felt bad for him. He tried so hard but in the end all it came down to was that he was just some kid who was in the right place at the right time and lived the rest of his life being lucky. No mater how hard he tried to fit in, whenever he saw a picture of the League, all he'd see were six heroes and one kid in a funny red suit.

Now that he thought about it, it was mostly his fault. He'd never gone by one day without making some joke. He winced at one memory. Hitting J'onn with whipped cream wasn't as funny as he thought it would be. How was he supposed to know that hitting someone with food was an insult on Mars? All he'd wanted was to start a friendly food fight. Also when the League was battling the Joker he was the only one who'd laughed when Batman had been forced to open a Christmas present from the Joker, which threw a pie in his face. He couldn't help it! Seeing Batman getting hit in the face with a pie was to funny for words. He covered his mouth to keep from groaning when he remembered something else. It had been his job to land the Javelin and he'd blown it. He was lucky it had been in one piece when it finally landed. OK in a few pieces and pretty badly scratched but the engine was still there right? Besides it wasn't his fault no one taught him how to pilot the Javelin was it?

He glanced over at Batman again. Suddenly he knew what to do. He would just zip over there and have a nice chat with Batman and apologize, because that's what mature people do right? They take responsibility for their actions. He ran over and into an empty corner. He looked around with a sinking feeling. No one was there. Batman was gone, just like his chance of truly being one of the Justice League.

Do u like it? I hope so! It's my first fanfic though so please don't flame! But if u must flame then u can! All reviews are appreciated!
