The sun goes down as the city lights

Pave their way through the darkest night

The sun lighted the streets for a final minute, as the mechanical lights flickered on and made the streets glow yellowish. A lone man made his way through, hands deep in his jacket-pockets, head buried in a scarf.

Sounds were silenced as he walked past, leaving everything behind him in a deafening silence.

A sound escaped from his own lips, as he lifted his head a little bit and the sounds behind him were brought to life again, as if the world had stopped turning and finally was finding it's own balance back.

Raindrops fall as an old man cries

Never thought to ever think twice

And suddenly, the streets became darker, but lighter at the same time as the sky darkened and the city lights glowed brighter. Small drops fell down from the grey sky, hiding the sunset behind it's layers of clouds. The lone man made another sound escape his lips, before he buried his head back into the grey scarf and closed his eyes tightly, leaving him blind to the rest of the world.

Of all he had

Of all he lost

A selfish life

I guess comes with the cost

The man stopped walking, just standing there in the middle of the street, and lifted his head to feel the cold breeze stroke against his now tear-stained cheeks. Opening his eyes back open again, he took in his new surroundings, as he recognized the place where his feet had taken him.

This was the place where he once had it all, but had lost it all again.

Hey, remember me

I remember you walking away

The man's face beared a small, weak smile, memories rushing back to him.

He didn't want to be here, yet he felt like he belonged here.

One memory in particulair... caught his attention.

He never thought he'd shed another tear about that one memory where his old lover had turned it's back to him.

The same old streets... just a different name

Same old house... just the family's changed

Letting his eyes glide over the streetname, he snorted as he saw how the name had changed. A sparkling light caught his attention, and he let his gaze drop to the flickering lights of an old fake christmas tree in the garden. He carefully slid his hand out of his pocket, and the cold winterbreeze caught his bare skin and bit at it.

The man grabbed the handle of the old rusty gate, and slid the lock open with small force. Pushing open the white gate, he stepped into the garden, crunching the wild plants beneath his foot.

Picket fence

The window stains

Freedom spells by a man in chains

Slowly walking further into the wild garden, he stared up at the white house, the balcony completely hidden behind frozen ivy. Several windows were broken, glass shatters surrounded all over the place. Everywhere he looked, there were things symbolising 'freedom'.

Hey, remember me

I remember you walking away

Hey, remember me

I remember you walking away

From all that you made

That you lost

Or threw away

Traded in for a brand new life

The man walked away from the garden, back to the gate, the snow starting to fall faster. The male suddenly lifted his head up, green eyes flashing slightly, auburn hair spotted with white, and a smirk flashing acros his features.

The old conman had changed alot after losing the only one dear.

But I can't

Can't let go

Can't turn around

Hold my head high and walk away

The ex-conman buried his head back into the grey scarf, before walking off, not noticing the small figure sitting against the window on the topfloor behind the glass, watching as he turned his back to the old house and walked away.

Hey, remember me

I remember you walking away

Hey, remember me

I remember you walking away...
