"I will see you tomorrow, Franny," said Cornelius Robinson.
"Good-bye," Franny sighed as she shut the door to her house. That was the end of their fifth date. She enjoyed his company, but he hadn't kissed her yet. Cornelius had been so close, but he always stopped a couple inches from her lips. Even at the best of times, he was hesitant to be near her. He didn't even hold her hand till the second date. Franny leaned against the door thinking for a few more minutes about Cornelius before heading up the stairs.
Franny was almost at the top of the stairs when there was a quiet knock at the door. It scared her who would be at their house this late at night. Franny decided that it was fake when the knock came again. She ambled down the stairs to the door. After she cautiously guided the door open, Franny was surprised to see Cornelius standing there.
"What are you do___" Franny barely asked before his lips came crashing down on hers.
"Good night, Franny," Cornelius smiled and left her house with waiting for her to reply.
Franny couldn't think straight as she hurried up to her bedroom. "This can't be real. This can't be real. This can't be real," Franny murmured to herself over and over. It was just too good to be true. It was the best kiss she has ever had. Not that she had kissed many guys. She had a few boyfriends but nothing serious. She went to sleep hoping it would make more sense in the morning.
She woke up thinking it was a dream. Cornelius was not like that at all. He was too shy to do that. Shaking her head, Franny got ready for the day. Franny thought about the kiss all day up until she had to go see him again.
Franny went to Cornelius's work to meet him for lunch. He kissed her lips politely in some sort of greeting. Franny was more surprised now than ever. Cornelius had kissed her twice! Her Cornelius who was so shy and reserved had kissed her. She could get used to this new Cornelius as he kissed her goodbye after lunch. This time she wasn't surprised at all.
