Disclaimer; I do not own Naruto or any of the characters found in Naruto. Nor do I own the Song; it's a Christmas carol I found and thought up a story to. Enjoy.
Merry Christmas!
Where are you?
Where are you Christmas
Why can't I find you
Why have you gone so far away
A blonde boy pinned up a stocking as he had been instructed to do by his friends. He hung it in the middle, between the few cards he had gotten. Few, but worth a lot to those who never get anything.
Where is the laughter
You used to bring me
Why can't I hear the music play
He looked at the tinsel decorating his house, the little fat Father Christmases hung round his house, the mistletoe hung in random places by Kiba in hope of gaining a kiss from someone. He looked at the musical Santa Claus, not playing. He stared at the Christmas tree in the corner, stuffed with tinsel and hanging decorations, silent.
My world is changing
I'm rearranging
Does that mean Christmas changes too
He thought of the upcoming party he was having at his house the forthcoming day. A party he wasn't looking forward to. The party two and a half years ago had been fun. Everyone had been there. Everyone. Now the person he counted as family was missing. Christmas didn't feel like a happy time anymore. It had changed.
Where are you Christmas
Do you remember
The one you used to know
He sighed and went to continue on the pies he was making for the party tomorrow. He also had to make some sweet desserts for tomorrow. The lost one had loved sweet things, even if he did not acknowledge that fact. The young man nearly smiled. His smiles, real ones, were less frequent these days, especially now, at this time of the year.
I'm not the same one
Se what the time's done
Is that why you have to let me go
The blonde lad sighed again, finishing the last pie. He had liked jam tarts. The blonde boy didn't make them this year. It hurt too much. In fact, the whole season hurt too much. Celebrations were meant for happy people. Not for people who had lost that which they had cared most about. People were meant to be happy at Christmas. He couldn't be.
Christmas is everywhere, oh
Christmas is here if you care, oh
Tomorrow was going to be hard. Everyone he had left would be there. They expected him to be happy.
If there is love in your heart and your mind
You will feel like Christmas all the time
He'd have to pretend that he had no worries, and was happy about Christmas just as much as they were. He'd meet and greet, and act like the perfect host, even if this host was hyper and would most likely spill the drinks. They'd never realise that it was a façade, a pretence. And of course, they'd give each other presents, each crying out "Oh you didn't have to, but thank you so much!"
I feel you Christmas
I know I've found you
You never fade away
He'd never be able to give Sasuke the present he had bought for him. He'd seen it and immediately knew it was for Sasuke. He'd wrapped it up carefully, but he'd never be able to watch Sasuke open it and smirk his thanks. None of them would. In fact, none of them would even mention their missing friend at all. It was too painful. They'd shy away from that subject.
The joy of Christmas
Stays here in silence
Fills each and every heart with love
It wasn't fair! Why did the idiot run off and leave him all alone? Why did he leave and hurt everyone who cared about him? Now he would never see his best friend smirk as Kiba made a fool out of himself again. It wouldn't be everyone sitting at the table, laughing and cracking jokes. Sasuke would be missing, and each of them would feel that loss in their hearts.
Where are you Christmas
Fills your heart with love
Naruto turned to look out of his window, looking at the small diamonds glittering in the night sky. A single tear ran down his face; a tear for the brother he had lost.
