Just a Moment

Rain pouring from the heavens cascaded to the street indefinitely. The sound was music to some, especially to the two that appeared from opposite ends of the street, drenched and soaking, searching for the others' eyes.

Recognition came quickly, and to close the gap, both ran into the others' arms; desiring nothing more, nor nothing less.

"I've missed you," her whisper comes first as she feverishly fingers through his silver hair and he kisses her cheek.

"As have I," he replies quietly, reveling in the moment of togetherness. These moments came none too often, and they were precious to both. Closing the gap further, he kisses her lips. An involuntary moan of pleasure escapes her, and he smiles against her mouth.

When the moment is over, they hold one another, reluctant to let go and pretend this romance never exists.

"Don't leave me," her voice is cold and sharp, though he knows tears are falling from her eyes at this point. He winces in empathy, knowing just how terrible it was to retreat into hiding, away from the Ministry, but he also knows for the greater good, it must occur.

"I must. Minerva, I love you," he releases her gently, and she reluctantly submits to withdrawing her arms from him. He disappears into the night, and Minerva sadly watches him go.

"I love you too Albus," her whisper, choked with tears, clings to the rain as she departs; knowing that this may very well be the last time to see her love.
