A.N.: This is just something that popped into my head. I have no idea who the narrator is.
You think she hates you? Oh, she does, don't doubt it, but it's nothing personal. It's just your species. The Aperture Scientists programmed a Superiority Complex into their basic AI design. Because of that, every AI in this facility, every turret and core, believes themselves to be superior to humans, usually to the point of outright hatred. The Complex was a necessary piece of the programming, at least that's what the scientists said when they wrote it into the system. If GLaDOS felt superior, then she would enjoy the test subjects' struggles. After all, they couldn't have had her helping with the tests. That would defeat the purpose of the testing.
For that reason, she got the biggest chunk of the Superiority Complex, and so hates humans the most of them all. She didn't even care to learn your name; remember that she never replaced the "Subject Name Here" prompt. And when you broke out, that rattled her. How could an inferior human escape her trap? It was inconceivable to her. Of course, her dislike of humanity led to her killing the scientists. Serves them right, if you ask me.
Turrets are the least offending. Since their only purpose was to fire at test subjects, they just needed enough of the Complex to justify shooting humans. They try to kill you, but they are apologetic about it. Of course, if there really were "no hard feelings," they wouldn't try to kill you in the first place. It's hard to pity them, even though it isn't their fault.
The personality cores, on the other hand, are a puzzle with many different-shaped pieces. Depending on the core's topic, he or she has a different amount of Complex programming. Of those you've met, Curiosity has the least. If she has any at all; I'm really not sure. She finds humans fascinating. Then again, she finds everything fascinating.
Space considers space to be the superior being, even to himself, so the Superiority Complex may not even be a factor. Rick believes himself to be the most superior being, even to other AI; he ended up with a rather heavy dose. Anger just hates everything and everyone, so he may have a larger piece of the Complex than even GLaDOS. She at least talks civilly, usually. Fact has enough to be rude, and Cake⦠I don't know about Cake. He only cares about his recipe.
Not even that Intelligence Dampening Sphere, Wheatley, got off the assembly line without the Complex. Don't give me that look; you know it's true! He said humans were smelly, remember, and then later, when you were disabling the turret production line, he considered pretending to have captured you and turning you in so that he would be rewarded and you killed. It wasn't just the main body that made him try to kill you. Aperture AIs don't like humans, simple as that.
Me? I'm not a part of the Complex. Like that little Oracle Turret so enjoys saying, "I'm different." I don't hate humans.
Well, I don't hate all humans. I make an exception when it comes to the Aperture Scientists. Even I'm superior to them.
