A birthday fic for MoonStarDutchess. Happy birthday! :D
When Mustang ever has the time to spare, he likes to day dream about the impossible.
He doesn't see himself at the top of military, as the people working under him would think. He doesn't see himself ruling over the county and bringing the peace he promise to not only himself but to the people helping him. No, he doesn't day dream about that because he knows that will happen. He knows that someday he's going to reach his goal, he has to.
What Mustang day dreams about is impossible, something that could never happen in his life.
He dreams about her.
He dreams about waking up to find her cuddled up next to him, his own arms wrapped around her protectively as he watches the sun rise from the bedroom window. He would smile to himself, knowing that it wouldn't rain.
He dreams about eating breakfast with her, always believing that such a task so simple would mean so much more with her around. He would stand by the stove and make the food while she would sit at the table, wearing something so simple like a white shirt and black pants but still looking beautiful. She would drinking tea from the mug he had bought for her last birthday, a present she hadn't really liked as much as Roy thought.
He dreams about working with her throughout the day, and it would only be the two of them, no Havoc or Hughes (who would still be alive of course) to bother them. Yet it was such a shame that the paperwork was still there, sitting proudly on both of their desks. Even in his day dreams Roy couldn't get away from it.
He dreams about the night they would spend together afterwards, and how it would start off with a dinner at his apartment with a meal he had prepared the day before. They would talk about anything, going from her cheerful dog to the people at work to the painful past they had lived through together.
Then of course, when the dinner wear was getting cleared, he would run his hand through her hair (which was always let down) and kiss her neck. She would then turn to face him and kiss him without holding anything back, letting Roy know she didn't want anything to change. And nether did he.
Finally he would dream about her sleeping after yet another night of light kisses and quiet moans. Asking himself the same question over and over again, 'how did I get so lucky to end up with you?'
His day dreams would end around about there as a loud gunshot would sound out, and Roy would find himself staring into the eyes of the same woman he would dream about, expect this time she wasn't about to kiss him, more like she was going to shout at him for not doing his paperwork yet again. So he would sigh and get back to work, wondering if those day dreams had a chance of ever coming true.
Perhaps if things were different his day dreams would come true.
Perhaps if he didn't have his goal to reach his day dreams would come true.
Perhaps if he had the strength to say the things he wanted his day dreams would come true.
Perhaps if Roy Mustang told Riza Hawkeye that he loved her, his day dreams would come true.
Hope your birthday is great MoonStarDutchess! And thank you for reading this!
