Gilbert looked up at the ceiling, sleep being the furthest thing from his mind. It was difficult for him to sleep nowadays, thanks to a certain blonde pigtailed girl always on his mind.

The albino man looked over at the clock on his nightstand. It read 2:17 in the morning. Gilbert sighed heavily as he sat up in his bed. He reached for his cell phone and dialed a familiar number. After three rings, the voice on the other end spoke.

"Gilbert?"

Gilbert weakly smiled as he spoke.

"Did I wake you up, Birdie?"

"No," replied the woman on the other end, "I couldn't sleep. I see that I am not the only one."

"Mind if I come over, Birdie?" asked Gilbert.

"I don't mind. Emily is out with Ivan for the night. I am kind of lonely here."

Gilbert grinned widely as he heard the woman's answer.

"I'll be over in 15 minutes!"

Madeline got up off the couch and walked over to the door when she heard the doorbell ring. When she opened the door, standing on the porch was Gilbert, smiling widely. Madeline allowed Gilbert inside and closed the door behind them.

"Where did that sister of yours and her bastard boyfriend run off to?" asked Gilbert, placing a gentle kiss on Maddie's cheek.

"Emily took Ivan out for their anniversary," replied Maddie, "Sometimes I wonder who the man in that relationship truly is."

Maddie giggled slightly at her own comment. The blonde woman led Gilbert to the living room, where they sat down on the couch.

"Ivan has that kind of kink," replied Gilbert, "I've known the guy for years!"

The albino man wrapped a protective arm around Maddie.

"How are Feliciana and Ludwig?" asked Maddie.

"Still planning their wedding," replied Gilbert, "Feliciana wants a big wedding, much to my little brother's disliking! Definitely sounds like him to a tee!"

Maddie giggled lightly.

"I am looking forward to it, Gil. I have my dress already picked out, thanks to Feliciana."

"I don't care if you are wearing a potato sack, Birdie! You would still look hot regardless!"

Maddie blushed slightly.

Maddie woke up several hours later on the couch. Her head was resting on Gilbert's chest, his arm around the blonde woman and holding her close to him. The woman smiled gently as she placed a light kiss on Gilbert's nose. Gilbert stirred slightly before he opened his eyes.

"Good morning, Birdie," yawned the pale- skinned man.

"Good morning, Gil," Maddie replied in a whisper.

"Did your loudmouth sister wake you up?" asked Gilbert. Maddie shook her head.

"She never came home. She is most likely at Ivan's house."

Gilbert pulled Maddie closer to him, their noses touching.

"I love you, Maddie," whispered Gilbert. Maddie smiled at Gilbert.

"I love you too, Gilbert," Maddie whispered in reply.

"Wanna get married, Birdie?" asked Gilbert. Maddie giggled.

It may not have been the most romantic proposal, but it suited Maddie just fine. The pigtailed woman kissed Gilbert on the cheek.

"Yeah, let's get married, Gilbert."

Those five words made Gilbert realize that when he was with Maddie, he was in heaven…
