A/N: Because I'd like to see the air babies opinions on all these raging hormones and (battle)ships.
"Pema, are you ready?" Tenzin made his way off Oogi's head with a swift 'whoosh' of his cape, gently landing on the ground.
Somewhere from inside the temple, he heard a shrill voice. "Keep your beard on, Tenzin!"
Ah, the joys of having a wife who's expecting.
"Oogi's waiting, we have to leave now or we'll be late!" Tenzin resisted from stroking his beard, waiting until he finally spotted his very pregnant wife hobbling towards him, struggling under the weight of her bags.
Tenzin quickly took them from her, allowing a smile to reach his face at the sight of her. He helped her up Oogi's tail and onto the saddle, placing the baggage with her. Following her was the whole procession: their three kids, Korra, and her friends.
It was a small meeting he had to attend, in the Fire Nation. Pema was also coming because he knew how much of a hassle taking care of all the kids on the island would be for her (Plus, he wanted to be there on the off chance that his child would be… ready).
Before they could set off, Tenzin motioned for Korra and his children. Mako and Asami, arms draped around each other, were gazing at the sunset, while Bolin and his pet Fire Ferret stood awkwardly beside them. Tenzin frowned slightly at the image, but turned back to the task at hand.
He crouched to face them. "Goodbye, children," he started. "I'll be back in about a month, maybe less, but I want you all to be on your best behavior." Meelo, Ikki and Jinora nodded rather enthusiastically, with Korra shrugging indifferently next to them.
Tenzin sighed. "Korra, you're in charge." She was the oldest child who knew the place well, and unfortunately, that meant that Tenzin would have to trust her.
Korra nodded, no attitude showing for once, and left, calling a halfhearted "Bye!" as she made her way inside.
"Now," Tenzin lowered his voice slightly, and beckoned his kids to come closer. "I have a special mission for you three."
Ikki gasped and clapped her hands together, while Jinora clasped her hands, her eyes shining. Meelo stared at his sisters, and then back at his daddy, his face vacuous.
"Jinora, you're secretlyin charge while we're gone."
Jinora nodded solemnly. "I won't let you down."
Tenzin continued. "You three have to keep a close eye on those four teenagers. This is very important- I don't want anyfunny business between them, okay?"
Jinora glanced at Mako and Asami, who looked like they were about to kiss rather passionately, and immediately understood. "No PDA?" she questioned.
Tenzin smiled, ruffling Jinora's hair. She was very wise for her age.
Meelo, who must have finally comprehended his father's words, jumped up in a flurry of wind. "WE'RE SPIES!" he hollered before racing away.
Tenzin shook his head and smiled wearily, realizing just how patient his mother must have been to keep up with his father's energy.
Ikki pulled on Tenzin's cape to get his attention. "Daddy, are you going to meet Uncle Zuko? Can you say hi to him for me? Oooh, can you get me a flower from the Fire Nation? You know, the red and white pretty ones, like last time! And-"
Tenzin hugged Ikki, effectively silencing her, and then Jinora in turn. "Be good," he said, before leaping onto Oogi and calling, "Yip, yip!"
He watched his family wave goodbye, their figures getting tinier by the second.
If any of the teenagers did anything remotely…. hormonal, (in a sacred Air Nomad temple-island, no less)…
Spirits, he hoped nothing would happen.
