Spoilers: Everything so far.
Disclaimer: I do not own fringe or its wonderful characters.
Author's notes: The very talented Checkmate started a thread at Fringe forum (?t=5038) with fics inspired by songs, here is my take, this one is inspired by "Like a song" by Lenka, so it's better if you listen the song while reading the fic. Enjoy!

Like a song
**********
I can't forget you when you're gone.
You're like a song
That goes around in my head.
*********
"What I don't understand is what they want, what did we do to them to want to destroy our reality? Really, what do they want?"
"You."
*********
And how I regret
It's been so long.*********
It was weird, it was the first time in his life in which he didn't feel like running, and it was exactly the first time he had to, the irony wasn't miss to him.
He had time to pack some things, which he wasn't sure he would be taking with him, the things he wanted to take with him weren't allowed where he was going, but he had to at least try to fix this.

Time, make it go faster,
Or just rewind
To back when I'm wrapped in your arms*********
"Promise me you would take care of Walter while I'm gone." Peter screamed over the noise of the machine and obvious rain in the other side.
"I promise." Olivia tried to put as much emotion as she could in her voice; she knew it was giving her away. She was trying to be strong, but she was failing.
He had to go now; the portal wouldn't hold a lot more.
Peter grabbed her by the shoulders, hard, he looked at her like he had never done before, his eyes where shinning, "I'm coming back!" He screamed again over the noise, she just nodded feeling completely overwhelmed by his touch.
Olivia thought about how he had to go now or he would notice how much she wanted to cry, then she felt his lips on hers, demanding and soft at the same time, tender; she didn't know he could feel like this.
"I'm coming back to you." Olivia could hear cars coming, noises foreign to her, and she just could nod and keep looking at him, all the emotions in him poured in his eyes and hold on her, then it was gone. Peter never turned while leaving, he kept looking at her all the way until Astrid and Water closed the portal, the sound of the cars got closer and she just felt like she wasn't there.
She felt Astrid and Walter pulling her to the SUV to hide. The cars came and then were gone. She just felt absent.
Walter's hand was on hers, it startled her, she got down of the car and breathed as hard as she could, but it was too late, she couldn't breathe or stop crying, she felt powerful arms hugging her.
"It's all right, everything is going to be allright, he's coming back, don't cry Olive." But she was already soaking Walter's jacket.
He was gone.
*****
All afternoon long
It's with me
The same song
You left a light on
Inside me
My love
I can Remember
The way that it felt
To be holding on to you

She returned to the Bishop's house once a week, every Thursday at the same time. She couldn't possibly know when he was coming back, but sometimes she swore she could hear his voice, feel his arms around her, feel his breath on her neck.
The smell of sea salt filled her nose, the wind picked up making a mess of her hair, she shuddered, but the cold will never go away. She turned and walked towards her car.
"Is Peter back yet?" It was always the same question, his face always contorted with pain and hope; all in one.
"No, not yet Walter."
"When then?"
"Soon Walter, soon."

Time
Make it go faster
Or just decide
To come back to my happy heart
